Another install, another great fit for w**e label printing 🍷

We recently installed an OKI Pro9431dn for one of our customers, who now runs it alongside their new Xerox to produce w**e bottle labels in-house.

Interesting move from Xerox this week.

Xerox has announced a strategic partnership with Flint Group Digital Xeikon to expand its production print portfolio.

The obvious headline is digital packaging, labels and commercial print.

But from where I sit, the more interesting question is:

What does this mean for the traditional production colour market?

We supply both new and used Xerox production printers, so we see the market from a slightly different angle.

And one thing is clear — buying a production press isn't simply about buying the newest machine.

It's about finding the right balance between:

• volume
• colour quality
• media capability
• automation
• running costs
• reliability
• and, ultimately, the work the machine can win.

Sometimes that means a brand-new press.

Sometimes a well-maintained used machine makes much more commercial sense.

The best machine isn't necessarily the newest one. It's the one that makes sense for the work you're actually producing.

It'll be interesting to see how Xerox's expanded portfolio develops over the next couple of years.

Has Xerox lost its edge? I disagree.
There’s a lot of conversation these days about whether Xerox has lost its place in the print market.
But from where I sit, one thing is clear: reliability still matters.

AI is getting smarter.
Microsoft is restructuring around “Agents and Infra”. Businesses are experimenting with AI agents, automation and increasingly connected workplaces.

⚡ Storms are in the forecast — is your Xerox printer protected?

A single power surge can fry a control board, damage the fuser assembly, or corrupt firmware on your Xerox printer in an instant. Repairs can cost hundreds of dollars, and downtime can lead to missed deadlines, delayed invoices, and frustrated teams.

The fix is simple, cheap, and takes five minutes:

✅ Plug your printer into a dedicated surge protector (not just a power strip — look for a joule rating of 1000+) ✅ Unplug the printer entirely during severe storms or when it will sit idle for days ✅ Check your network/phone lines too — surges can travel through Ethernet and fax lines, not just power outlets ✅ Consider a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) if your printer supports critical, time-sensitive print jobs ✅ Inspect surge protectors annually — they wear out and stop protecting after repeated surges, even if the outlet still "works"
