After meeting at school over 80 years ago, Jean and Frank Aldred are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary!
Jean and Frank first met at the same school when Jean was 10 and Frank was 13. They quickly became inseparable friends and would have tea together most nights.
In 1939, Frank volunteered to help the war effort, joining the RAF. At 17, he was posted to Burma and didn't return home until 1945. However, their love never faltered and the couple wrote to each other throughout Frank's time in Burma. A year after returning, they married.
70 years later, they are celebrating their anniversary surround by friends and family. Jean said "We've had our ups and downs, agreements and disagreements, but we have always been together, no matter what goes on we stick together."
