✨ A pair of silver monteith bowls have exceeded expectations at Hansons Auctioneers Staffordshire Saleroom, achieving a combined £6,200 at our recent Super Sunday sale!

The Victorian and Edwardian silver pieces attracted strong bidding, with one selling for £4,400 – almost double its guide price – and the other fetching £1,800, three times its low estimate.

Once a staple of grand entertaining, monteiths were designed to chill wine glasses in iced water and are now finding renewed appeal among collectors, interior designers and those seeking statement decorative pieces.

Could this result signal a resurgence in demand for traditional silverware?
