More good progress today with replacement flooring, stopped-up doorways and bunged-up stoke-holes being the order of the day! While we were shaded from the sun by trees, dappled sunlight is definitely not great for archaeological photos.

In true Time Team fashion, we made an interesting discovery on the last day of our dig at the current site. A charcoal deposit came to light, lying partially underneath the stony layer discovered a few days ago. What it represents isn't yet clear but it has close similarities to a deposit found beside the medieval cobbled surfaces nearby.

We'll be returning to this site in the autumn so might be able to turn up some more clues then.
