Another busy evening at our Wolverhampton depot, with our recovery vehicles being prepared before heading out for the night shift.

Professional standards start before a vehicle even leaves the depot. Our fleet is regularly jet washed and cleaned, ensuring our vehicles are presented to the standard we expect when representing Burke Bros on the road.

Every driver also completes the required daily vehicle and equipment checks at the start and end of their shift, helping us maintain safety, damages, reliability and operational readiness.

🌙 On a typical night, we operate 15–20 slide bed recovery vehicles from our Wolverhampton depot alone, providing recovery and roadside support throughout the night.

Burke Bros Recovery Tackles Rise in Abandoned Caravans Across West Midlands

Burke Bros Recovery is removing more than 20 abandoned caravans a week as the business sees a major increase in caravans being used for fly-tipping across the West Midlands.

Working with multiple councils, Burke Bros Recovery is increasingly being called to collect caravans that have been filled with rubbish, effectively used as skips, and then abandoned.

Many are packed with household, building and mixed waste, while others have been stripped, damaged or dumped in locations requiring specialist recovery equipment.

Once collected, each caravan is towed to secure storage, where it remains until it can be booked in for disposal. Burke Bros Recovery then works with various waste management companies to arrange the disposal of the caravan and the waste contained inside.

What appears to be a simple abandoned caravan can therefore involve specialist recovery, transportation, secure storage and final disposal all of which carries a cost.

When these caravans are abandoned on public land, councils are left having to arrange their removal, with the associated costs ultimately falling on the taxpayer.

With more than 20 caravans being dealt with each week, Burke Bros Recovery is seeing first-hand the growing scale of caravan fly tipping across the West Midlands.
