If you run a business, this is worth two minutes of your Friday.
Seven employment law changes came into force this month, and several of them hit harder in healthcare than anywhere else.
Here's what changed on 6 April 2026:
✅ Sick pay now starts from day one, no more three-day wait
✅ Paternity and parental leave are day-one rights from the start of employment
✅ Holiday pay records must now be kept for six years
✅ The penalty for getting redundancy consultation wrong has doubled
✅ Sexual harassment is now a protected whistleblowing disclosure
And on 7 April, the Fair Work Agency launched with enforcement powers to act on all of it.
If your policies haven't been updated, or you're not sure where you stand, don't leave it.
I've written a full breakdown with plain-language explanations and what you actually need to do. Link in the comments.
