The role is based in Digbeth, Birmingham, interacting with enterprises and partners with whom we engage with knowledge and skills development programmes.
About Gecko
Gecko currently holds an Adult Education Budget (AEB) contract and to provide skills and mentoring packages to people seeking vocational training and a pathway to employment.
We also hold a “Skills Support for the Workforce (SSfW)” contract to deliver transformational interventions to SMEs, as skills interventions to employees in the Black Country.
Gecko holds EU Erasmus Plus contracts, working with seven FE colleges in the Birmingham and Black Country conurbation, to send vocational programme completers to Europe for work placements
Role Purpose
Principally, this role is to support the WMCA’s “Adult Education Budget (Lot 1 & Lot 2)” in Birmingham and Wolverhampton.
The purpose of the AEB contract is to engage with enterprises and Job Centres in this geographical area, and through a process of identifying job shortages, curriculum and recruitment paths to present programmes of learning that support learners to achieve and progress to sustainable employment.
With these contracts, Gecko works with employers in many sectors, presenting programmes of learning that provide vocational and transferable skills, and may include licences to practice. When appropriate, Gecko offers Functional Skills and work placements to develop and practice skills that lead to employment.
This role is to provide 1-2-1 sessions, and to motivate and support learners, being responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) Service to both potential and existing clients ensuring that the highest possible standards of advice and guidance are rigorously maintained, and being responsible for preparing for an SFA audit of client files as and when required.

Principal Accountabilities
1. To be responsible for ensuring that quality assurance procedures are in place and implemented across the service area, working with other staff to maintain the standards, including preparing for MATRIX re-accreditation (every 3 years) and regular yearly inspection reviews.
2. To be responsible for tracking of client/student outcomes and planning for progression and further development.
3. To complete Individual Action Plans with all customers and clients.
4. Adhere to strict Data Protection and GDPR policies and regulations.
5. Undertake outreach work, visiting community groups to talk about learning opportunities and information/advice when required. Ensure that all those contributing to the provision of advice and guidance work together as a team in meeting the needs of individual clients.
6. To undertake personal client, contact and advice sessions, helping customers to create CVs and utilising the internet to develop job search skills.
7. To maintain records of all personal clients contacts and collate for reporting purposes, specifically tracking progression on a monthly basis and inputting client results within agreed deadlines.
8. To assist with the preparation and production of IAG brochures, leaflets, course information and other publicity materials.
9. To be responsible for the achievement of objectives, data / statistics and targets and providing progress reports.
