A 30-ton double girder overhead crane with a 26 metre span is now in operation at Dunlop Belting Products, installed in one of their steel cord production areas. It will handle heavy components and finished belting, giving them the lifting capacity to keep pace with their growing production.

Installing a crane of this size inside a live manufacturing environment takes careful planning, precision and close coordination on site. Our team carried out the installation with safety and the facility’s day-to-day operational requirements front of mind.

This project is another example of how our team delivers fit-for-purpose lifting solutions for heavy industry.

Zibo Containers (Pty) Ltd approached RGM Cranes for a more efficient bulk bag handling solution that would reduce the need for forklifts in their facility.

With limited headroom presenting a key challenge, our Cape Town team designed and manufactured a 3.2 ton single girder crane with a 15 metre span, a 20 metre freestanding gantry and a 2.5 ton bulk bag spreader.

The project highlights our Cape Town branch’s ability to assess site constraints, engineer the right solution and manufacture complete crane systems locally.

RGM Cranes has successfully completed a 25-tonne gantry crane installation for a client at its DHL logistics hub. Spanning 18 metres and travelling along a 42-metre runway, the crane supports the specialised loading of equipment onto trucks.

The project included the foundations, supporting columns, gantry structure and crane, with carefully positioned column centres allowing trucks to move efficiently through the loading area.

By replacing the need for hired mobile cranes, the new installation provides a permanent, reliable solution that improves loading efficiency, supports increased production output and helps streamline deliveries.

Our Cape Town branch is now a full manufacturing operation, handling projects from fabrication through to installation. A recent project for Louw Slab Sales in Yzerfontein put that capability to the test: a crane and gantry system delivered on a tight six-week deadline. The scope included a 7.5 t single girder crane with a 13.2 m span, a 36 m gantry with support columns, and a custom 7.5 t non-standard spreader beam.

Our Cape Town team managed every stage, from engineering and fabrication to on-site installation, commissioning, load testing and handover, showing the kind of end-to-end service we now offer customers across the Western Cape.

Electra Mining Africa 2026 is behind us, and what a show it turned out to be. Over the course of the exhibition, our stand in Hall 5 gave visitors a hands-on look at our range, from electric chain hoists to precision lifting equipment, with our team on hand throughout to talk through crane and gantry solutions built for real operating conditions.
