The CAT+ Doppler can deliver a blood pressure reading in less than a minute.

With the right technique, cuff size and a calm patient, the CAT+ Doppler can provide quick, reliable readings for cats and dogs, making it practical for both routine checks and anaesthesia monitoring.

Think of your blood pressure cuff like a drum.

Strike the centre, and you get a clear sound. Get too close to the edge, and things become a little muddier.

The same principle applies to cuff positioning. Placing the artery in the centre of the cuff helps the monitor detect the pulse wave more clearly and can support a more reliable reading.
And, of course, keeping your patient still helps too.

Happy International Dog Day!

To the dogs who arrive at the practice with a wagging tail… and leave us wondering how one patient can possibly have that much energy. 😂

From the good boys and girls who sit perfectly still to the ones who turn every check-up into an adventure, we love them all.

Today, we’re celebrating the four-legged patients who keep veterinary teams busy, smiling and very much on their toes. 🩺🐾

Here’s to healthier dogs, happier tails and plenty of treats.

Think blood pressure checks are only for unwell cats? Think again.

Routine monitoring can help establish a patient's baseline and highlight changes that may otherwise go unnoticed.

Because good monitoring isn't just about finding a problem, it's about knowing what's normal for your patient in the first place. 🩺🐾

So, how does a blood pressure monitor actually detect a pulse?
It all starts with the cuff.

The monitor gradually increases cuff pressure until the pulse can no longer be detected. From there, it uses the **pressure wave created by the pulse** to help determine the patient's blood pressure.

That's why correct cuff positioning matters the monitor needs to detect that pulse wave clearly to do its job.

🐾 Curious about what’s happening between the patient, cuff and monitor?
