June 30th - Save The Date!
here focussing on just one of the special pieces to feature in our upcoming Summer Fine & Curated Sale later this month…
A charming solid 18ct yellow gold box with a Royal past.
The cover inscription reads: “This box belonged to HRH The Duke of Sussex, and is the one he commonly used, bought at the sale of the late Duke’s effects in July 1843”
This places this object in the property of Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex and son to King George III who was born on the 27th January 1773 and passed away on April 21st 1843.
The Duke was highly regarded for his highly progressive political views and was a known advocate for the abolition of slavery and equal treatment for peoples of all religions and faiths.
Whether for s***f or trinkets - it is humbling to know this piece was once the property of a prince. Consigned for auction with us from a private Cotswolds home, the next owner could be you!
Estimate: £10,000 - £15,000 - just one of hundreds of gorgeous pieces of history offered for sale with us on June 30th.
Keep posted for the full catalogue this week!
