In 1919, legendary Western artist Charles Marion Russell put pen to paper, creating this remarkable illustrated invitation to Calgary’s Victory Stampede — complete with a bucking bronco and rider, drawn in his unmistakable style

Addressed to a senior military aide at Canada’s Government House, this is far more than a letter. It captures the spirit of the early rodeo era, when the mythology of the frontier was becoming an enduring part of North American culture

A man that needs no introduction but here we go anyway

- Sir Michael Caine (born 1933) is one of Britain’s most celebrated actors, whose distinguished career spanning more than six decades has made him an enduring figure in international cinema. Rising to prominence during the 1960s, he became renowned for his distinctive Cockney accent, naturalistic acting style and memorable performances in films including Zulu (1964), Alfie (1966), The Italian Job (1969) and The Dark Knight trilogy. A recipient of two Academy Awards and a knighthood for his services to drama, Caine is particularly significant for challenging traditional notions of the British leading man, helping establish working-class actors at the forefront of international filmmaking

The old expression ‘have gavel, willing to travel’ is always true for us as we delight in visit clients and accepting consignments from across the length breadth of the UK

Yet this wonderful work by Francesco Fracanzano (Italian, 1612-1656) is a favourite of Jack’s ahead of our anticipated Autumn Quarterly Fine & Curated Sale, which he found in a charming home a stone’s throw away from our sale room
