Established in 2014, we offer members multiple & many opportunities to connect & grow in a supportive environment. Our Friday morning meetings are characterised by a balance of good humour and serious business. We follow a tried and tested formula to ensure that we understand each other's business well enough to spot opportunities and make the right introductions as we go about our daily business - it's a bit like having an unpaid sales team working for you!

One of the speakers at our last meeting was Pete McCallum of TECC who shared his journey in business, milestones this year for the business which is celebrating 20 years and has just re-located to bigger premises, and his reasons 'why' he does what he does!

These talks help us all learn about each other and gain confidence around making credible referrals.

Our legal expert is Kelly Rogers of Awdry Law. She shared the fact that she recently received a bouquet of flowers and chocolates from a client she had supported across several months through a personal injury claim. She said how wonderful it is when clients say 'thank you'. Kelly is a specialist in complex disputes.

Our financial adviser member is Southby & Co Financial Planning today represented by founder Dave Southby. Dave came along for a very special reason. The business is celebrating five years and Dave has been with us from day one. To celebrate he even bought chocolate cake for us to share - thanks to the baking process of his sister!

Thanks Dave, we all took a slab home!

One of the speakers at our last meeting was commercial photographer and photography trainer Barbara Leatham. She didn't do a talk this time. She brought in a group of props and challenged us all to choose a prop which spoke to us and our businesses and to take a photograph! So we all embraced the props, added our logos and 'had a go'.

Our Wills & LPA specialist is Simon Chaplin who talked about his recent holiday to China but also how he is helping people put in place plans for care provision in later life. He can also help families support loved ones by getting ethical LPAs in place around finances and health.

Our Utility Warehouse representative is Claire Tompkinson who is currently helping families and couples to save money on their household bills as we all face rising prices. She talked of helping a single mum save £40 a month which made a huge difference in a cost of living crisis. Claire is known in the group of really caring about all of her clients.

At our last meeting, Ian attended who represents Swindon Night Shelter, which is one of our charitable partners. We have always had a charity seat at BusinessWise funded by the other members.

Ian shared some statistics about the shelter and the Haven - in the last year 235 individuals were given emergency accommodation and 165 of those have gone on to get more permanent accommodation.

More than 720 individuals have visited The Haven for support during the day and the team have served 14,000 meals and around 17,000 cups of coffee.

The need is not going away...

Today at BusinessWise we embraced our new home! We are now meeting at the Hilton at j16 in Swindon. Our meeting time hasn't changed - we meet from 6.30am for a chat, coffee (or tea) and then we have breakfast at 7am.

This breakfast is plated and served but you can opt for toast or muesli if you prefer and dietary needs are catered for.

Then we literally get down to business! Our next meeting is Friday October 23 as we meet every other Friday.
