General Labourer, 35 Hours/week
Farndale’s are a family run business pumping and installing flowing concrete and screed for domestic and commercial customers across Yorkshire, Humberside, and North Lincolnshire.
With over 18 years’ experience in the concrete industry, we pride ourselves on providing excellent quality products and exceptional customer service and leaving the site cleaner than we found it.
We’re looking for someone to join our team as a General Labourer based near Selby with travel to customer sites. As well as general labouring you will also be trained to assist with Concrete/Screed installations and pump operation.
The job would suit someone who’s finished college and is looking for a business that will support and develop their on-the-job skills. Alternatively we’re happy to talk to people with labouring experience who would like to join a family firm.
To do the job you need to be able to get yourself to our site at Apollo Business Centre, work outdoors in all weathers, deal with some unsocial hours and be physically fit. You’ll also be organised, tidy, and great at customer service.

JOB DETAILS
Job: Labourer
Salary: 18-20 £7/hr, 21+ £9/hr
Hours: 35 hours/week. Hours range between 6am and 7pm Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday mornings if required.
Location: The role is based at Farndale’s workshop, Apollo Business Centre, Osgodby, Selby, YO8 5HX. You will also need to travel to client’s premises.
Holidays: 28 Days including Bank and Public Holidays (pro-rated).

GENERAL LABOURER – 35 hrs/week
MAIN DUTIES
Main duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assessing site safety and following site rules at all times.
• Site set up in preparation for installation of floors, including:
• Measuring up floors for flowing screed and concrete.
• Tanking out in preparation for flowing screed and concrete.
• Checking site prep before installation.
• Setting up equipment and screed/concrete pump up ready for installation; and
• Liaising with flowing screed and concrete plants to arrange delivery of material.
• Installation of floors, including:
• Operating pump for flowing screed and concrete.
• Laying flowing screed and concrete; and
• Cleaning up job site at end of installation and ensuring all equipment is clean and properly packed away.
• Maintenance Duties, including:
• Maintaining, cleaning, and testing equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
• Cleaning vehicles; and
• Keeping the workshop, yard, and container tidy.
• Other General Duties including:
• Driving to site.
• Sanding screed floors and grinding concrete floors.
• Liaising with Customers to arrange floor installations, sanding and grinding floors.
Essential Criteria:
• Applicants must be over 18 with the right to live and work in the UK.
• Applicants must be able to drive/have transport to get to the Selby site.
• Physically capable and able to do heavy lifting.
• Happy to work outdoors and some unsocial and/or long hours.
• Able to work in an orderly manner and keep sites clean and tidy.
• Professional and approachable with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Good basic maths skills, able to calculate areas and volumes.
• Health & Safety compliant, familiar with working to risk assessment.
• Willing to train and learn as required e.g. CSCS green labourers’ card and C1 test. (training will be paid for by the company)
Desirable Criteria:
• Be able to drive, have full clean licence and their own transport.
• Construction industry experience
• CSCS Green Labourers Card
• Cat BE trailer or C1 Licence
• Manual Handling Training
