Summer might be winding down, but there’s still plenty of colour to enjoy! September brings a second wave of interest, with late-flowering perennials adding colour, texture and movement just as other parts of planting schemes begin to fade.

Some of our September favourites include:

🌼 Rudbeckia
💜 Agastache
🌿 Persicaria

From the graceful flowers of Anemone to the bold golden blooms of Rudbeckia and masses of late-season Aster colour, these varieties are ideal for helping extend displays into early autumn — with plenty offering a valuable late source of nectar for pollinators too. 🐝🦋

A big thank you to Askham Bryan College for hosting members of our team last week for a hands-on Cuttings & Propagation Workshop. ✂️🌿

Colleagues from across different departments took part, with a real mix of experience in the room — for some, propagation was completely new, while others had the opportunity to refresh and build on their existing knowledge.

The practical session covered the techniques behind taking and preparing cuttings, giving everyone the chance to get stuck in and learn more about how plants are propagated from the very beginning. 🌱

It's great to give colleagues from all areas of the business opportunities to broaden their horticultural knowledge, learn new skills and gain a better understanding of what goes into producing the plants we supply.

A huge thank you to the team at Askham Bryan College for sharing their expertise and making everyone so welcome! 👏🌿

⭐Customer Feedback We Love to Receive! ⭐

There’s nothing better than hearing how our plants are performing once they’ve left the nursery! 💚

Last March, we supplied 350 broom plants to Bingley St Ives Golf Club, and a few months later, they’re absolutely thriving in their moorland surroundings.

Martin from the club got in touch to share this fantastic update: “We are delighted with the quality of plants you supplied. We’ve had so many very favourable comments around the club. The plants are thriving – I’m 6ft 1in, and some are already above my shoulder!”

A big thank you to Martin and the team at Bingley St Ives Golf Club for taking the time to send us this update and photo. We love seeing where our plants end up and, even more importantly, seeing them flourish! 🌱👏

🌿 Wildlife Finds at the Nursery! 🦎🐛

It’s not just plants thriving on the nursery at this time of year! 🌱

We’ve had a couple of brilliant wildlife finds recently, including a group of tiny young newts 🦎 and this rather impressive elephant hawk-moth caterpillar! 🐛

Those large ‘eye’ markings on the caterpillar are actually a clever defence mechanism, helping it resemble something much bigger when threatened. 👀

From pollinators amongst the flowers to newts hiding in damp corners, it’s always great to see the variety of wildlife making itself at home across the nursery. 💚
