It’s been a while since we introduced ourselves and there are quite a few new faces here so here’s a little about us and the story behind Lola Design 💛
Most people here know me as Lola, but I’m actually Amanda. It’s usually my face you see, although Lola Design has always been very much a team effort between me and Frank.
We never had a grand plan to start a business. Life changed, we moved home to York, I donated a kidney to my dad and suddenly “maybe one day” didn’t feel good enough anymore.
So we took a chance.
That was back in 2015, and over the past 11 years there have been brilliant highs, incredibly difficult moments and quite a few times when we’ve wondered what on earth we were doing.
We’ve won a Henries Award, spoken up when our work was copied for us, other artist and uk retailers on Temu and somehow found ourselves on BBC Breakfast and Rip Off Britain.
Behind all of that, Lola is still a small team with a lot of heart me and Frank, Brandon and the brilliant warehouse crew who help make it all happen.
Together, we create things we hope will make someone smile and we’re still working out the next bit as we go.
Life has changed us many times along the way, and the last couple of years more than ever. But we’re still here, still creating and still excited to see what comes next.
