Facts. = .

The plastics and petrochemical industries plan to quadruple plastics production by 2050—threatening our chances of keeping global temperature rise below the critical 1.5-degree Celsius threshold.

The production of plastic, which is made from fossil fuels is helping drive the climate crisis. Plastic impacts human health, creates environmental injustices, harms wildlife, & the environment—our precious air, water, and land.

40% of plastic is used only once, but never fully goes away. We must shift the system and stop our reliance on fossil fuels and plastics. ✴️ Join our coalition working towards systemic solutions to the global plastic pollution crisis. Visit www.plasticpollutioncoalition.org.

Thank you so much for such recognition!

NAWASA congratulates Mrs. Chrysler Benjamin, the wife of Employee Stephen Benjamin, one of the winners of the Eastern Caribbean Greenpreneurs Business Plan Competition.

'Coleen' as she is affectionately called by the NAWASA family, presented a business called 'Recreate' which aims to create new products from plastic waste and minimize the production of new plastic using virgin materials that can otherwise be conserved and encouraging responsible consumption.

The Business Plan Competition provided green startups the opportunity to demonstrate their growth through the Incubator Programme and to compete for grant awards. Beyond the funding, the competition is an opportunity for startups to showcase their business idea and gain experience in compiling their green business plans and pitch decks. Fifteen entrepreneurs participated in the competition and the top nine were selected by the judges.

The competition was judged by an esteemed panel of business and sustainable development experts from across the Caribbean region. Each entrepreneur was evaluated on five criteria: Business Pitch (Video Pitch & Pitch Deck), Social Lean Canvas Business Plan, Financial Model, Theory of Change, and Greenpreneur Learning.

Congratulations 'Coleen' we are super proud of you and look forward to your journey ahead in this industry. Let's celebrate Mrs. Benjamin.

Let's break up with plastic! Let's ReCreate!

✨ Whilst recycling is a part of the solution for already existing plastic, we need to focus on breaking our relationship with plastic globally! We need to focus more on reuse and reduce, rather than recycle! So, what can you do? Prioritise not buying plastic over buying plastic that is recyclable, use reusables wherever you can and work on breaking up with plastic! ✨
