Along with standard Electromagnetic (EM) Induction locating tools, multiVIEW Locates uses the latest and most advanced Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment available on the market today, supplied by Sensors & Software Inc. GPR is a non-destructive technology that transmits high frequency radio waves into the ground or structure and analyzes the reflected energy to create a profile of subsurface features.
Finding non-metallic utilities with Ground Penetrating Radar
Projects that require deep analysis on the horizontal and vertical positions of buried infrastructure should incorporate GPR, particularly when non-metallic utilities may lie beneath. GPR is highly effective at locating linear infrastructure that has traditionally been considered “un-locatable” such as assets comprised of plastic, asbestos and concrete. It’s also used to identify changes in subgrade, water content, depth of bedrock and other features. When combined with traditional EM Induction locating techniques, a full picture of the underground can emerge.
Real-time 3D data, delivered onsite
GPR’s unique ability to detect non-metallic as well as metallic structures provides a distinctive locating capability. GPR can be deployed in simple “Locate & Mark” mode for rapid on-site solutions or “Survey & Map” mode to provide unmatched capability for defining subsurface infrastructure. Target depth is estimated using instrument positioning and signal travel time. Our Technicians can provide real-time 3D imaging onsite and instantly email project data directly from the GPR unit.
