The Sun is doing something extraordinary above us every second.

In just one hour, the sunlight that reaches Earth contains more energy than the entire human civilisation uses in a year. ☀️🌍

Solar PV simply captures a tiny fraction of that immense flow and turns it into electricity for homes, quietly powering life from the roof above.

No fuel deliveries.
No global supply chains.
Just light becoming power.

That power source is 150 million kilometres away. The connection is right here on the roof.

24 Hour Sun.

On 28th February, this Guernsey home operated all day and night on its own energy.

Morning demand powered by solar.
Battery fully charged before midday.
Evening peak supplied from stored sunlight.
Baseload carried right through the night.

This is what sunshine sovereignty looks like at domestic scale.

Built by Renew.
Powered by the Sun. ☀️

A NanoGrid turns your home into its own resilient energy system, using solar power and stored battery energy to keep everything running when the grid cannot.

When a power cut occurs, the system detects the loss of grid power and instantly isolates your home from the wider network. Energy is then supplied from stored battery power, with solar generation continuing to contribute during daylight hours.

No scrambling for torches. No sudden silence. Just continuity. Life uninterupted.

What blends in but stands out?

Roof-integrated Solar PV represents the future built into existing landscapes. Not bolted on as an afterthought, but designed as part of the architecture from the beginning.

This system was installed a few years ago with a very specific goal, to create an additional roof to sit beneath for this pool house, while retrofitting panels into the existing roof beside it.

The result is both shelter and power generation, a structure that covers the space below while quietly producing clean energy above.

Systems like this produce clean energy without disrupting the character of a home or the surrounding environment. No visual noise, no compromise, no clash between technology and nature. Just quiet performance, day after day, season after season.

The goal is to make solar look like it was always meant to be there.

Harvest the sunlight that falls on your roof and store it for when the sun sets. ☀️🔋🏡

By day, your home gathers power from the sun, by night, it glows from what it saved. Greater energy independence, and a softer footprint on the world beneath your feet.

Cinema, powered by the sun. ☀️🎬

We’re proud to have supported the filming of ALBERT. From solar power at the production base, where costume, makeup, and catering departments operated, to electric vehicles, tools, and hosting set building at our HQ, this production shows what filmmaking can look like when creativity runs on renewables.

The Island of Guernsey, 1690. As echoes of the island’s intense witch trials linger, recluse farmer Sarre must quickly hide his connection to the forces of nature before it’s too late.
Based on a folk tale dating back to the 18th–19th centuries surrounding the grimoire Le Petit Albert, this short film, written and directed by Joshua G. R. Fletcher, searches for the truth within myth and explores the conflict between nature and order, witchcraft and religion.

🎟️ FREE premiere at St James Concert Hall, Thursday 12 March
Red carpet reception, screening, Q&A, exhibition, plus a drink on arrival

How one August day delivered near-24-hour solar power ☀️🔋

In summer, a well-designed solar and battery system can do something remarkable. It can turn sunlight into an almost continuous energy source.

On this August day in 2025, energy generated during daylight powered the home, charged the battery, and exported surplus energy to the grid. That stored solar was later used to power the home through the evening, overnight, and way into the following morning.

What actually happened
- Overnight, the home was powered by stored solar from the previous day.
- In the morning, solar seamlessly took over as the battery stepped back.
- By mid morning, solar exceeded demand and the battery charged rapidly.
- By early afternoon, the battery was full and surplus energy flowed to the grid.
- That stored energy then powered the home again through the evening and night.

It's what we like to call 24 H(our) Sun.☀️

Guernsey’s built environment is rich with history, texture, and character, and new technology should honour that, not erase it.

By carefully integrating solar into traditional buildings, we bridge old and new, allowing modern energy systems to sit comfortably within heritage settings, preserving what makes them special while quietly transforming how they perform.

Battery storage, explained 🔋

A home battery stores excess solar energy during the day, then releases it later based on how much your home is actually using.

This is called Self Consumption Mode.

What Self Consumption Mode really means

Your system is constantly measuring two things in real time:
• How much solar your panels are producing
• How much electricity your home is consuming

If your home needs more power than the solar is providing, the battery automatically fills the gap, discharging only what the home needs at that moment.

If solar is producing more than the home needs, the battery charges instead.

Nothing is fixed or timed. It’s responsive.

How solar, battery, and home work together

• Solar powers the home first
• Excess solar charges the battery
• The battery discharges in line with home consumption
• The grid is only used if solar + battery can’t meet demand

The battery doesn’t “dump” energy. It smoothly follows your home’s behaviour.

For most of human history, everything ran on sunlight.

Crops in fields.
Wood grown by the sun, burned for warmth.

Coal, oil, gas, they’re just ancient sunlight, but come with too many consequences.

Now we can skip the middleman.

Solar PV lets us capture sunlight directly, cleanly, quietly, right where we live.

No digging. No burning. No pollution.

Same source.
Smarter connection.

The world has always been solar powered.
We’re just remembering how to plug back in.

Energy independence isn’t just a feeling, it’s a number you can measure.

When you can see your energy in real time, behaviour changes.

Real-time visibility of solar production, household consumption, and battery storage allows homes to actively optimise how and when energy is used.

In monitored systems, this insight consistently drives higher self-consumption and materially reduces grid reliance over time.

All presented through a beautifully designed, intuitive app that makes complex energy flows immediately understandable.

Caution: Solar geek mode may activate when your system goes live. Friends and colleagues may tire of frequent updates on today’s generation ☀️📊
