If you haven’t already done so, please check your boats ahead of Storm Austen.
🌬️ Storm Austen forecast for Thursday/Friday - Please Check Your Vessel
With the first autumn storm of the season expected to reach the Bailiwick overnight on Thursday and in to Friday, Guernsey Harbours is asking all berth holders to check their vessels are properly secured.
Before the weather deteriorates, please check:
• Mooring lines are in good condition and correctly secured
• Additional lines have been fitted where appropriate
• Fenders are correctly positioned and inflated
• Bilge pumps are operational and batteries are charged
• Cockpit drains and scuppers are free from debris
• Sails, covers and canvas are properly secured or removed
• Loose items on deck are removed or firmly secured
• Shore power connections are safe and secure
We also ask berth holders to ensure that dinghies, equipment and personal belongings are not left on pontoons, and that access ways remain clear for all harbour users.
Taking a little time to prepare now could help prevent damage to your vessel and neighbouring boats during periods of strong winds and rough conditions.
Thank you for your cooperation.
