Last week, I had the rare privilege of speaking as a panelist at the third (3rd) University of Media, Arts and Communication-IJ (UniMAC-IJ), Academic-Practitioner Conference under the auspices of the Faculty of PR, Advertising & Marketing (F0PAM). Other distinguished members of the panel were Prof. Etse Sikanku, Director, Directorate of Research-Innovation & Development, UniMAC-IJ, Mohammed Ali, Head, Marketing and Communication, ADB Plc, Bellona-Gerard Vittor-Quao, Manager, Public Affairs, NPG, Iddrisu Fuseini-Lecturer, Department of Marketing, UniMAC-IJ and Nii Nookwei Tackie, Lecturer, Department of Marketing, UniMAC-IJ. The panel discussion was moderated by Gbesemete, Public Relations Manager, Publicis Groupe and Benjamin Akakpo, Broadcast Journalist from Multimedia as the Master of Ceremony.
The forum afforded students and practitioners an opportunity to share and exchange ideas about the synergies between the study and practice of Public Relations.
Following the event, a diploma one student reading Public Relations provided me with feedback. I'd like to share it with you since it encapsulates some of the key points I discussed during the program.
“I appreciated your balanced view on technology, on the importance of learning how to effectively use hashtag . Thus, recognizing its power to accelerate our work while also underscoring the irreplaceable value of human intelligence and creativity. Your reminder that AI should complement, not replace, our God-given talents and critical thinking skills was a powerful takeaway. It was reassuring to hear that despite the advancements in technology, the human factor remains paramount.
Also, your contribution also highlighted the evolving nature of learning and developing skills. While technology provides immense resources and speed, the traditional, more hands-on methods of learning still hold great value for practical ownership of knowledge.
Overall, your contribution was both thought-provoking and motivating. Thank you for sharing your expertise and perspective with us. I am looking forward to applying these insights in my studies and future career. “
I really appreciate your feedback, Esther Oforiwaa.
To Dr. Bright Senanu, Lecturer, Department of Marketing, Faculty of FOPAM, Rev. Yaw Odame Gyau, Dean, FOPAM, Ekow Quandzie Head, PR, Global Media Alliance and the entire student body, thank you for inviting me.
