OBODAI Meaningful brands move organizations, people and the world forward. We help build them.

OBODAI is a branding firm focused on crafting meaningful brands for forward-looking companies. We utilize the power of brand strategy and design to bring clarity to evolving businesses, refresh underperforming brands and create transformative solutions for business growth. Our clients are mostly evolving or changing their business model, expanding into new markets, launching new products, or feeli

ng stuck in their current situation. We work directly with founders, CEOs, and their direct teams to align business goals with a brand strategy and enable them to tell their unique stories and capture hearts through thoughtful design. Our work encompasses brand naming & positioning, messaging & visual identity, product packaging & advertising design.

We're excited to share with you one of our favorite projects from the archives: a rebrand for Carpe Diem Beads & Beauty.

Carpe Diem is a small business that makes quality African beads and skincare products for women of all shape and size. With beads being Carpe Diem's core offer, they believe it's also a way for women to express their femininity.

OBODAI was hired to help give the brand a facelift as the brand was evolving and their current identity did not reflect the brand's new direction. Through this rebrand, they were looking to maximize brand recognition, customer satisfaction and increase sales.

To achieve this, we worked closely with the founder to create an identity system that would adapt to the brand's new direction and future courses. The new identity also had to resonate with their ideal customers and reflect what the brand stands for.

WHAT WE DID:
→ Brand Strategy
→ Messaging
→ Visual Identity
→ Packaging Design
→ Social Media Ad Design

What do I mean by “what your logo means”? In my previous post I mentioned that your logo is the symbolic face of your brand.

Every symbol has a meaning attached to it. It either represents a set of values, a shared story, an inspiration, or a group of people with a common interest (tribe)

Your logo encapsulates the mission of your brand, the customer’s experience, your beliefs, your brand story, your messaging, etc. So when a customer sees it, it reminds them of all these things.

Take NIKE’s logo (the swoosh) for instance, whenever you set your eyes on it, you’re reminded of the brand as a whole and the spirit of victory they’re putting out there through their messaging and sponsorships.

People attach meaning to your logo whenever they set their eyes on it, and that meaning is influenced by your continues efforts to fulfilling your brand promise.

So it doesn’t matter if you have just a dot or a rectangle as your logo. So far as it’s able to communicate your brand values/personality, it’s okay.

FUN FACT: NIKE’s swoosh is not actually a “correct” sign. That logo was inspired by the shape of the wings of Nike, the goddess of victory. Yeah you read that right!

Does your logo have a meaning or a story behind it? Share with us in the comment section. Perhaps someone following me will relate with it and purchase from you.
