We had the pen-ultimate strategy session for the Youth in Agribusiness Program, Ghana yesterday.

Together with , and Skills Consults this program has been designed to expose more young people to the variety of work and opportunities in Ghana's food and agri sector.

Last December, 20 youth were selected from a pool of over 140 applicants for this program.

These young people will go through a 3 week hands-on training program where they'll be empowered with technical and soft skills for workplace productivity in the Agribusiness sector.

They will also have the chance to visit different leading reputable food and Agribusiness companies in Ghana!

At the end of this training, participants will get a 3-month internship position with the various companies.

I'm super excited to be consulting on this project and seeing it come alive! February is already exciting.

Stay tuned!

Scarcity vs Abundance Mindset

Your mindset is a critical component of success in your job-search and life in general. Your mind is everything. For what you think, you become.⁣

One of the biggest mistake you can make as a job-seeker is starting your job search journey with a scarcity mindset. ⁣

A scarcity mindset makes you see only limitations even where opportunities are glaring. It keeps you focused on what you don't have. It amplifies lack.⁣

Mantras of a scarcity mindset during job search: ⁣

❌The economy is bad, there are no good jobs out there in this country⁣

❌I don't have 2 or 3 years working experience oo⁣

❌I don’t have enough skills⁣

❌I don't have connections⁣

All of the above statements are based on scarcity mentality. ⁣

Few months back, I worked with a client who was only focused on everything that put him at a disadvantage in his job search. He ignored everything he had that was an advantage. He paid dearly for it. ⁣

As we started the journey together, he had a eureka moment. He realised and changed that mindset. Like magic, he started seeing results. I'm glad he's working now. ⁣

As a job seeker, I encourage you to embrace the abundance mindset. This mindset chooses to see the positives, possibilities and advantages, where others see limitations and lack. ⁣

One of the simplest ways to shift from the scarcity to abundance mindset is to change what you tell yourself. ⁣

✅Though I don’t have connections, I will find a way to network and introduce myself to more people.⁣

✅Though I don’t have required industry experience, I have transferable skill sets. ⁣

✅The economy may be bad but my dream job is out there waiting for me ⁣

The truth is that scarcity mindset is born out of and operated by fear of the unknown. This fear holds us back from going after what we deserve. Don't let this mindset stop you. ⁣

Fear not! There is an overflow of abundance of jobs for you! ⁣

May the odds always be in your favour. ⁣

As a jobseeker, what are you doing with the tools at your disposal?

Compared to few years ago, job seekers today have an advantage. That advantage is SOCIAL MEDIA.

Couple of years ago, people had to scan through pages of newspapers and roam the city to see companies that had put out vacancies. I remember sitting with an uncle then, just scanning through heaps of newspapers to find vacancies for an accountant position. It was stressful.

Today, the story is different. With your smartphone and Internet connection, you are exposed to a world of opportunities, both locally and internationally. With some few clicks here and there, you've applied for these vacancies.

The question remains, how are you taking advantage of this?

Every single day, there are at least 10 vacancies in your chosen field shared on LinkedIn, professional WhatsApp groups, recruiters on Instagram, Facebook, twitter etc.

Your job-search strategy should include positioning yourself strategically to see and to take advantage of these opportunities using the tools at your disposal.

May the odds always be in your favour.

If you're an NSS PERSONNEL, read this now!

In less than 1-month, over 50,000 of you currently serving will be done with National Service. Out of that number, it is predicted that more than 30,000 will be joining the job-market.

The harsh reality is that there are not much jobs to absorb this number and this makes the competition for the available jobs extremely tough.

Unfortunately, hope is not a strategy for this competition neither is "fama nyame". You MUST be ADEQUATELY EQUIPPED, for this is WAR!

Below are 6 simple things you MUST do to stand out and win this competition:

✅ KNOW THE COMMON MISTAKES JOB SEEKERS MAKE AND HOW TO AVOID THEM: It’ll surprise you to know that the reason many are still unemployed is because of some avoidable errors.

✅ HAVE AN IRRESISTIBLE CV & COVERLETTER: Your CV is a selling document that markets you before recruiters. Learn how to write one. Wack CVs end up in the trash.

✅ LEARN & PRACTICE JOB INERVIEWING SKILLS: You can’t run away from this. At least, learn how to answer the question “Tell us about yourself”.

✅ HAVE A JOB SEARCH STRATEGY: Don’t use the spaghetti approach of sending out your CV randomly to every Tom, dick and harry. Most times, it doesn’t yield any results. Have a clear cut strategy.

✅ OPTIMIZE YOUR LINKEDIN PROFILE: this helps you leverage LinkedIn for your job search.

✅ SIGN UP FOR THE JOB SEARCH MASTERCLASS: this is the only training where you'll learn how to land your dream job with ease even if you don't have connections in high places.

Hurry to reserve your spot now for the Job Search Masterclass using link below.

Do you know that you can be a University Graduate and still be unemployable?

You see, as a job-seeker, one thing you must realise this month is that 'EMPLOYABILITY' is not the same as having subject knowledge, or qualifications.⁣

In other words, the fact that you are a University Graduate doesn't mean you're employable. Yes, that's on a "Mary had a little lamb!" Lol. ⁣

Don't get me wrong, as a student having a first class degree is a GREAT ADVANTAGE. It gives you an edge over your others during your job-search.

However; in today's world of work, that you have a First class, Masters or PhD degree, is no longer enough to secure you or guarantee you a position. ⁣

You must have 'Employability skills'. ⁣

Employability skills are those set of skills almost everyone needs to do almost any job. They are Soft-Skills that look beyond your technical or academic skills and deals with your capabilities or competencies: aptitude, attitude and behaviour.⁣

Some of these skills include: ⁣

Excellent communication, Team work, Problem solving & Critical thinking, Taking initiative, Planning and organising, Emotional intelligence etc.⁣

These skils are very important as they will help you to easily: ⁣

✅Navigate the world of work⁣

✅Interact with others⁣

✅Get the work done. ⁣

Interestingly, these skills are more important now than ever and can easily be developed by anyone.⁣

So, this month of July, we encourage you to commit to consciously improving your employability skills as they will always give you an added advantage in your job search journey. ⁣

P.S: Did you miss our last breakfast meeting session with Young Professionals? Don't fail to reserve your slot for July's edition. DM for more details. ⁣

May the odds always be in your favour. ⁣

Cheers to a new month!⁣
