In every profession and field of life, there are genuine people and fake people. There are fake doctors, fake bankers, fake drivers, fake teachers and fake politicians. Some are untrained, some lack integrity and others are outright deceivers. Yet, despite this reality, people still go to hospitals, save money in banks and trust genuine professionals. Why then should the failures of some pastors make us reject every servant of God?
Yes, there are fake and corrupt pastors who have brought shame to the body of Christ. But there are also sincere, broken and sacrificial servants genuinely laboring for souls and advancing God’s kingdom. Pastors are not superhuman. They face temptations, battles, weaknesses and pressures just like every believer. The enemy fights them fiercely because when a shepherd falls, many sheep can be scattered.
Instead of joining social media crowds to insult, mock and destroy pastors, believers should become agents of prayer, healing and restoration. When genuine servants fall and truly repent, we must remember that we too are capable of falling if not for God’s mercy.
Before criticizing a pastor, ask yourself:
* Do I pray for my pastor consistently?
* Do I support the vision God gave him?
* Do I encourage him or only speak against him?
* Do I honor the sacrifices he makes for God’s people?
* Do I forgive him when he offends me?
Be careful not to corrupt your heart against genuine servants of God. Satan knows that if he can make people despise spiritual leadership, many will disconnect from divine help and direction. Pray for your pastors, encourage them, bless them and speak well of those who are faithful. Don’t help the enemy destroy God’s servants.
