LET'S LOOK AT RCD DEVICE IN ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
An RCD breaker; short for Residual Current Device — is a safety device used in electrical systems to protect people from electric shock and to prevent electrical fires.
How It Works
An RCD continuously monitors the flow of electric current in a circuit:
It compares the current flowing in the live wire with the current flowing in the neutral wire.
Under normal conditions, these currents are equal.
If some current leaks (for example, through a person touching a live wire or through faulty insulation), the RCD detects the difference (residual current) and quickly disconnects the circuit — usually within 30 milliseconds.
