Across Afrika these very small beings are known by various names. Amongst the Bebelibe people of Northern Ghana they are referred to as the Siyawesi, among people who practice the Fanti-Akom Spiritual Tradition of Southern Ghana they are known as the Mmoetias, amongst the Yoruba people they are the Egbere, Arara or the Aroni. Among the people of Benin and Togo they are the Yevu, amongst the Ijo people they are the Kumbu-Ama-Kala-Amapu. Amongst the people of the Bantu-Kongo region they are the Basati. Among the Edos of great Benin kingdom it is called Erinmwineka. They are known as Kontomble of the Burkina Faso. In Southern Africa they are known as Tokoloshe..
Around the Caribbean. In Belize we call them “Tata Duende”. In Trinidad and Tobago, and I would guess a few of the other Carib Islands, these beings are called Douens.
They are very skilled herbalists and usually live very deep into the jungle. Some live in trees and are regarded as Tree Elves, others live in caves. Still there are other types who live in the sea and some in rivers.
By the way, these are NOT very small human beings. They are NOT physical human beings. They are also NOT Spiritual Beings. They do NOT fit within this binary categorization. They can materialize themselves at which time they are visible to regular human eyes and they can also de-materialize at which time they become invisible to regular human eyes. Amongst various Healers and some non-Healers across Afrika, there are many who can see them even when they have de-materialized themselves. In very general terms they are usually referred to as Dwarf Spirits or more appropriately, Sacred Dwarves. For the First Nation Peoples of America and Canada, they are referred to as Little People.
The only difference is their feet should point backwards however it does not seem that that is as yet able to process backward facing feet.
BY THE WAY, THESE ARE NOT MYTHICAL BEINGS, THEY ARE VERY REAL AND ARE PART OF NUMEROUS INDIGENOUS SPIRITUAL TRADITIONS ACROSS AFRIKA AND AROUND THE WORLD.
