A week ago, something beautiful happened at the Manners on Point Studio😍

We welcomed a wonderful group of women for The Refined Lady, a practical social etiquette and refinement experience designed to help women become more intentional about how they present themselves, carry themselves and make others feel.

There was learning, meaningful conversation, practical exercises and plenty of laughter.

And the best part? The ladies were having such a wonderful time that they weren’t quite ready to leave! 😊

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful ladies who made this session so memorable.

Respect and kindness shouldn’t be reserved only for the rich and powerful.

How we treat people who cannot offer us anything in return says a great deal about our character.

Let’s practise simple acts of respect every day:
📍Greet the security guard, thank the cleaner, speak respectfully to the waiter and acknowledge the people who serve us.
These are small gestures that can make a meaningful difference because good manners aren’t about impressing important people. They are about showing respect to everyone.

Let’s normalise treating everyone with dignity, always.

The dining table is designed for one purpose: to enjoy a meal and meaningful conversation.

Yet it is common to see handbags, mobile phones, wallets, car keys and other personal belongings placed on the table.

A simple guideline to remember is this:

📍If an item isn’t meant for dining or isn’t a decorative piece, it doesn’t belong on the dining table.

Good table manners create a more pleasant dining experience for everyone.

Good manners and strong character are developed one habit at a time. Here are seven essential habits every tween and teen should cultivate:

1. Greet People First
A warm greeting is one of the simplest ways to show respect and kindness.
Encourage children to smile, make eye contact and greet others before being greeted.

2. Speak with Respect
Simple words make a lasting impression.
• Please
• Thank you
• Excuse me
• May I…?
Respectful language reflects courtesy, maturity and consideration for others.

3. Listen Before You Speak
Listening is one of the most valuable communication skills.
Children who listen well are more likely to learn, build meaningful friendships and communicate with confidence.
“Listen to understand, not just to respond.”

4. Take Responsibility
Encourage them to:
• Admit mistakes.
• Apologise sincerely.
• Keep their promises.
Strong character grows through accountability.

5. Carry Yourself with Confidence
• Good posture.
• Eye contact.
• A genuine smile.
• A calm voice.
Your presence often speaks before your words do.

6. Show Kindness to Everyone
Treat everyone with dignity and respect because kindness makes the world a better place.
Kindness can be as simple as:
• Smiling
• Helping others
• Using kind words
• Including someone
• Showing patience and understanding
A little kindness goes a long way and leaves a lasting impact.

7. Apologise Sincerely
Everyone makes mistakes.
What matters is having the humility to admit them and apologise sincerely.
A genuine apology shows:
• Respect
• Courage
• Emotional maturity
A sincere “I’m sorry” can restore trust and strengthen relationships.

One of the smallest habits can leave one of the biggest impressions.

A warm, sincere has the power to make someone feel acknowledged, respected and welcomed. It costs nothing, yet it speaks volumes about your character and the way you value others.

Don’t always wait to be greeted first. Taking the initiative often reflects confidence, courtesy and genuine interest in others.

Today, I encourage you to be intentional. Be the first to greet at least three people and notice how they respond.
