At the , the conversation went beyond technical controls, it focused on leadership, collaboration, and the future of Ghana’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

As part of discussions with industry leaders and members of the Cybersecurity Industry Forum, key reflections were shared on where Ghana stands and what it will take to sustain its progress:

1. Ghana has achieved a lot in cybersecurity, we are the first in Africa to regulate accreditation and licensing, and second in the world.

2. There are a lot of things we need to do to maintain that status, leadership is key.

3. The Leadership Forum is a platform that periodically brings the industry together to discuss matters of common interest.

4.It is a space where industry players come together to have conversations that improve the cybersecurity industry.

4. Our mission is to operationalize Ghana’s cyber resilience through structured collaboration, leadership, and ethical practice.

5. We serve as a bridge between cybersecurity professionals and the regulator.

Live on stage is Mr. Daniel Klu, Ag. Head of Cyber and Information Security at Bank of Ghana, leading participants through the session: “From Rules to Resilience: Operationalizing the New Cyber and Information Security Directive (CISD 2026) as a National Strategic Imperative.”

Key highlights from the session:

1. 100% of Critical Information Infrastructure data must reside within Ghana’s jurisdiction.

2. Board-level accountability in cybersecurity is now mandatory, any board that fails to enforce it is effectively assuming the risk.

3. Fintechs and virtual asset providers have now been formally included under the financial cybersecurity directive, marking a major regulatory shift.

4. In every sector, whether insurance, banking, or other financial institutions, compliance with the directive applies both to the regulator and all regulated entities.

5. Every institution, when faced with the directive and legal requirements, may instinctively lean toward cloud adoption because it is convenient, scalable, and cost-effective.

6. Under the law, the Cybersecurity Authority has full powers to work with institutions, and non-compliance can attract serious regulatory enforcement actions, including direct intervention.
