Many ingredients in lip balms- phenol,camphor,eucalyptus,methol and peppermint are skin irritant or drying agents which provide short term relief but end up making your lips worse in the long run,thus making you use more lip balm.

One way of preventing crying when cutting onions.. You can freeze the onion for 10 minutes before cutting it. The cold temperature of the onion will slow down the chemical reaction which forms the volatile sulfured compound that make you cry.
