Let’s confront an uncomfortable truth: No leader no matter how brilliant has all the answers. Yet, some still cling to the myth that asking for advice is a sign of weakness. Today, I’m here to dismantle that myth with one undeniable reality:
"One who refuses to seek the advice of others will eventually be led to a path of ruin."

History and HR files are full of cautionary tales. The executive who ignored market warnings before a product flop. The manager who dismissed team feedback until turnover spiked. The entrepreneur who refused mentorship and burned through capital.

Why does this happen? Because leadership in isolation is leadership in illusion. When you stop listening, you stop seeing blind spots—and that’s where failure creeps in.

If people fear speaking up, you’re not leading—you’re dictating. Create psychological safety, or prepare for disengagement and disaster.

When you lead in isolation, you might feel in control, but you're really operating in an echo chamber of your own thoughts. Without engaging your team, seeking feedback, or welcoming diverse perspectives, you risk creating a distorted view of reality.

As a leader, create an environments where collaboration and open dialogue are not just encouraged, but expected. Remember, true leadership thrives in connection, not in solitude.

Empowering Others - A positive workplace culture.

True leadership isn’t about being the hero; it’s about creating more leaders.
Invest in your team’s development, delegate with trust, and give them the space to shine. When you lift others up, you amplify your impact.

Building a leadership legacy at the workplace is about who you are—your character, your values, and the way you live your life. It’s about the impact you have on others, not the power you hold over them.

So, lead not from your position, but from your life.

The Job Performance Talkshow. 👩‍💻 👨‍💻

Q:How do I overcome the fear of handling great task at work?

Overcoming the fear of handling great tasks at the workplace is a process of preparation, mindset shifts, and incremental action. Follow our practical approach in handling fear at the workplace..

A great task can feel overwhelming because of its size. Break it into smaller, manageable steps. Focus on completing one step at a time instead of worrying about the entire project.

Example: If you’re tasked with leading a team project, start by defining clear objectives, creating a timeline, and delegating tasks.

Fear often stems from uncertainty. Equip yourself with the knowledge, tools, and resources you need to handle the task. Ask questions, do your research, and anticipate potential challenges.

Example: If you're presenting to senior management, rehearse your presentation, gather relevant data, and prepare for possible questions.
Instead of seeing the task as a threat, view it as an opportunity for growth.

Remind yourself that great tasks are entrusted to capable individuals. This responsibility is proof that others believe in your abilities—even if you don’t yet.
You don’t have to do it alone. Reach out to colleagues, mentors, or your supervisor for advice or collaboration. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of wisdom.
Example: If you’re designing a new process, involve team members who can provide insights or feedback.

The best way to overcome fear is to face it. Start small, take the first step, and build momentum. Confidence grows with action.
Example: If you’re afraid of public speaking, begin by addressing smaller groups before tackling larger audiences.

After completing the task, reflect on the experience. What did you learn? What would you do differently next time? Celebrate your success, no matter how small, and use the experience as a stepping stone for future challenges.

NB: Great tasks are opportunities to showcase your strengths and build new ones. Fear is natural, but it doesn’t define you. Trust in your ability to adapt, learn, and succeed.

Conversations aren’t tests; they’re exchanges. Try to relax and let the interaction flow naturally, seeing it as an opportunity to share thoughts and experiences rather than something you need to “ace” or prove yourself in.

Intelligence, talent, and charm are valuable assets, but they aren't always what set you apart. What truly differentiates you is often persistence, grit, and the ability to execute when others hesitate. It’s about resilience in the face of setbacks, consistency in your efforts, and the unique way you connect with others through your values and experiences. In a crowded field, standing out is less about natural gifts and more about how you apply them strategically, adapt to challenges, and demonstrate a drive to achieve what others might deem impossible.

In today’s labour market, workers need to take personal responsibility for developing the skills and attributes that will help make them effective and their brands competitive. They also need to learn the best way of presenting themselves and what they can offer to a prospective employer.

To mention a few, Some of the basic skills to consider includes:
Self management, problem solving and critical thinking, negotiation, team working, communication and literacy, business and customer awareness, information technology, virtual assistance..etc
