She had to create an undergarment that was not yet in existence!
With $5,000 in savings and a great idea, she kept quiet, not telling friends and family of idea, she embarked on a mission to bring her vision to life and over 2 years, she researched, identified fabric, pitched to production mills, pitched to stores, run , hired a graphics to design hear business look on packaging, and had her then boyfriend support her by quitting his job and handle with packaging and shipping all from her apartment, and all the while keeping her day job! She sneaked her into other product packages which she bought and left on store shelves, she persistently sent her product to Oprah's personal until she got a call and was told how impressive her product was, and got featured on 's list of favourite things. That was to be her turning point! But she received a fundamental advice: To Get a Website, as potential would need to see her storefront to order! She quit her job at this point, got a site, and from here, her business skyrocketed! She hired a who was a monumental head from Coca-Cola to drive her vision forward but to professionalise her business and put it on a global scale, and her worked of Sara's kitchen! A decade on, she rakes in 20% of revenue in profits of $250 million. She is 100% shareholder of SPANX, and she is worth $1 billion dollars! She is a total !
