We Cannot Wait Until People Collapse Before Acting: A Call for Sustainable Health Partnerships

In Adidome, Central Tongu, a bold step has been taken to fight non-communicable diseases with the launch of the Health Kiosk Project.

Built on four pillars (Awareness, Checking your status, Nutrition, and Exercise), the kiosk brings free screenings and health education directly to the community.

The need is urgent. Hypertension cases in Central Tongu have doubled in two years, while diabetes has risen by more than 80 percent. Too often, people are diagnosed only when complications set in.

The kiosk proves that prevention can be simple, people centred, and effective. But for it to last, and to scale across Ghana, sustainable partnerships are needed, including funding, technical support, and alignment with national health priorities.

At Bena & Partners, we believe bold community initiatives must be strengthened through collaboration. Together, we can make prevention the norm, not the exception.

Let’s build sustainable partnerships that turn community sparks into nationwide solutions.

Strong healthcare systems are built on compliance, yet many providers in Africa lose trust and funding due to weak frameworks. The real cost of ignoring compliance is higher than the cost of implementing it.

At Bena and Partners, we see firsthand how certification and traceability practices create pathways to premium markets. Research in Ghana’s mango sector shows that producers with certifications such as GlobalGAP and functioning traceability systems gain stronger access to international buyers, especially in the European Union. Yet, only a fraction of farmers are currently certified, limiting their competitiveness in high value markets.

Consider the case of a cassava processor in Ghana that embraced certification and traceability. By aligning with international standards and proving the journey of their product from farm to market, the business unlocked new export opportunities. The outcome was a significant increase in revenue, with reports showing that certified exporters can achieve up to 40 percent growth once they tap into premium markets.

This example highlights a simple truth. Agribusiness growth in Ghana and across Africa depends on resilience at home combined with readiness for international buyers. Certification provides credibility, traceability builds trust, and together they open the doors to growth that goes beyond local boundaries.

At Bena and Partners, we help SMEs prepare for these opportunities. Discover how we support SMEs at benaandpartners.com
