Recent developments in ’s mining sector—from the Damang transition to continued regulatory strengthening—are sending a clear signal: is entering a new phase of mining growth defined by local participation, stronger governance, and long-term value creation.

Across the region, we are seeing:
* Increased focus on regulatory clarity and compliance
* Greater emphasis on local capacity and ownership
* Continued investment interest in gold, bauxite, lithium, and critical minerals
* A push toward sustainable and responsible mining practices

Ghana continues to set the pace, but similar momentum is building across Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Mali, and the wider West & Central African corridor.
The opportunity is clear—but so are the challenges:
➡️ How do we unlock investment while managing risk?
➡️ How do regulatory frameworks keep pace with industry needs?
➡️ How do operators, investors, and governments align for sustainable growth?

These are exactly the conversations that will take centre stage at the upcoming 12th West & Central Africa Mining Summit & Expo ( 2026) in Accra on 6-7 October.

WaCA Mining is designed as a strategic and commercial platform—bringing together:
* Mining companies and project developers
* Investors and financial institutions
* Government and regulatory authorities
* Technology and solution providers

A special acknowledgment to the continued efforts and leadership of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources - Ghana, Minerals Commission of Ghana, Ghana Tourism Authority as well as industry stakeholders such as Richard Kofi Afenu Esq. and others who are actively contributing to the advancement of Ghana’s mining sector.

The 12th West & Central Africa Mining Summit & Expo (WaCA Mining 2026) will take place on 6-7 October 2026 in Accra, Ghana, convening senior government officials, mining executives, investors, and solution providers from across the region and beyond.

Now firmly established as a leading industry platform, WaCA Mining 2026 will be held under the theme: “Transforming Mining in West & Central Africa: Technology, Investment, Impact.”

The Summit comes at a pivotal moment for the regional mining sector, as governments and industry players accelerate efforts to modernise operations, attract responsible investment, and strengthen the socio-economic impact of mining.

A Timely Platform for a Rapidly Evolving Sector

Across Ghana and West & Central Africa, the mining landscape is undergoing significant transformation. Governments are prioritising:

• Technology adoption and digitalisation to improve productivity, transparency, and safety
• Regulatory reforms aimed at boosting exploration, supporting local value addition, and formalising artisanal and small-scale mining
• Increased investment in critical minerals and downstream beneficiation aligned with global energy-transition demand
• Stronger ESG and local content frameworks to ensure mining delivers lasting economic and community impact

Ghana continues to position itself as a regional mining hub, supported by policy measures designed to stimulate exploration activity, strengthen governance, and enhance the country’s attractiveness to international investors. At the same time, neighbouring markets across West and Central Africa are advancing new mining projects, infrastructure corridors, and cross-border partnerships that are reshaping the regional resource value chain.

“Hosting WaCA Mining 2026 in Accra underscores Ghana’s role as a strategic gateway to mining opportunities across West and Central Africa. Accra’s connectivity, policy leadership, and growing mining ecosystem make it an ideal location to convene regional and international stakeholders” said organiser Maggie Tan, CEO, Magenta Global Singapore.
