HIS GREAT LOVE FOR HUMANITY – PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

“God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life…” (John 3:16 CEV).

The scripture above reveals God’s great love for humanity. He loved the world of human beings, as sinful and wicked as they were so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus to die in their place.

Doesn’t it amaze you that even when Adam sinned back in the Garden of Eden, it was God who came looking for him (Genesis 3)? Adam was hiding from God, because he had sinned, yet God still covered his nakedness with animal skin, showing that he loved him. The Bible says “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10). So clearly, God demonstrated His great and boundless love for us, while we were yet in sin. Perhaps you’re not born again and you’re wondering, “Can God possibly love someone like me?” Emphatically yes! No matter what kind of life you may have lived, you can take advantage of His great love today.

Then, for you that are born again, now that you know how much God loved the world of sinners, think about how much more He loves you! The Bible says “if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life” (Romans 5:10). If He loved the world of sinners, He certainly loves you even more. Galatians 6:10) says to do good unto all men, especially to them of the household of faith. This shows the Lord especially regards His children.

Take advantage of His great love today. Refuse to settle for poverty, sickness and failure, for God has given you all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3) He did all this because of His great love for you. Have faith and confidence in His love today.

A STRONG DESIRE ~ PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (MATTHEW 5:6)

Years ago, I attended ministers’ meetings to hear God’s Word. I was a young lad then and most probably the youngest in those meetings, but I was so hungry for the Word. There were times I would pray to God, *“Please, don’t let them send me out!”* Thank God He answered my prayers because those meetings inspired me a great deal and motivated me for what I’m doing today.

It’s our responsibility to nurture our desire for God’s Word. The apostle Peter said, *“Like new born babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire)…spiritual milk…”* (1 Peter 2:2 AMP). The milk is the Word of God (Hebrews 5:13). When you were born again you were born with a strong desire for God and His Word, but this desire can either be quenched or nurtured depending on what you feed your mind on.

You have to put a priority on the Word of God above every other thing. The first Christian leaders’ conference I attended was over twenty years ago. I remember I earnestly prayed after every session, going over what was shared because I wanted those truths to be deeply rooted in my heart. I don’t remember any of my roommates because my priority was God and His Word. There were times I missed meals in order to get in early for the meetings. Those meetings changed my life forever because several questions in my mind were answered with a lot of revelations.

The Word can yield the same result in your life when your desire is strong enough. Desire is the longing of the soul. Whatever you sow into your mind is what your soul will long for. So you see, your mind can be trained with the Word of God and that’s what the Spirit of God wants us to do. As you spend more time in the Word, you’ll desire more of the Word and your heart will be hungry for God’s Word.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THURSDAY 31

IT WAS FOR YOUR SAKE

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich (2 Corinthians 8:9).

The verse above isn’t referring to spiritual riches and spiritual poverty. When you study the entire chapter in context, you’d understand Paul was dealing with financial and material prosperity. For our sake, Jesus laid down His reputation, His riches and wealth; He laid down everything and identified Himself with us, and took our place. He became us. Everything He did was for our sake. He wasn’t poor, but He became poor for your sake. In the same way, you weren’t rich, but now in Him, you’ve been made rich, just as in Him you’ve been made righteous.

An understanding of this truth will cause you to walk in your heritage in Christ; your wealthy place in God. Your trust shouldn’t be in the government, the society or in the job that you do. Your trust shouldn’t be in any banking reform. Your trust has to be in the Word. He already became poor so that you, through His poverty, might become rich. Now, you’re to step into what He’s done for you and who He’s made you. You’re to walk in the glory that He’s brought you into. That was the essence of His suffering: “...the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow” (1 Peter 1:11). The glory now follows. Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I acknowledge my great inheritance in Christ and the place of greatness and abundance you’ve brought me into. I vehemently reject poverty, lack, penury and want, but consciously choose the joyful, prosperous life in Christ. I walk in righteousness, health, victory and success, which are my heritage in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
