Life is busy, deadlines are drawing near, workloads are huge but you need that extra skill. Let’s learn how you can embark on this journey at your own pace with or without a Tutor. Let’s engage in practical demonstrations of what works and connect with other French learners.

Dates are 30th and 31st May, at a cool rate of GHS 200. If interested, kindly register here for the Françomonde Speaking Experience.

People ask “Am I too old to learn French?”, mainly because we’ve been told that it’s easier to learn as a child.

In my experience of teaching French online the past 5 years, I noticed that the only difference between adults and children learning French is availability, heeding to instructions and the courage to make mistakes.

Children are always in a rush to come to class, never miss lessons, do everything you say and once you encourage them that it’s okay to make mistakes, they boldly make the mistakes and are corrected.

The situation is not same for adults. Adults are juggling many responsibilities, have a lot on their minds, do not follow instructions and are afraid to make mistakes. If the adults could master a few strategies, they could easily speak faster and easier than children.

As I said, I’ve paused on the tuition of adults. However, I’m ready to share with you strategies that will help you learn French on your own or effectively with your own Tutor. The Françomonde Speaking Experience was a success last year. Participants requested for 2 days, so we’re back this year with 2 practical sessions to set you on your journey to speaking French with ease.

If you’re navigating the French Teaching Experience too, the Françomonde Teaching Experience is here to help you teach French effectively online and in-person, to children and to adults.

I’m Wilma, a Ghanaian who had fun and ease learning French (25+ years experience learning French, 11 years experience teaching French). My goal is to make the French language learning journey easy and fun for both children and adults. I have taught online 500 + children and adults across Ghana, USA and Europe.

Several times, I have had to turn people away because I can’t do it all. Come and learn strategies to help you make your lessons fun, interactive and effective and grab some of these opportunities.

I absolutely love French!

However, whenever I take a stage on any platform, the goal is not just to teach French, but to share knowledge, to share something that will forever be useful to the audience.

I noticed my sun had challenges understanding evaporation, condensation and precipitation. I noticed this story has them completely laced in it, so I just didn’t teach my son but I taught my listeners too.

That one didn’t have the terms in there but it’s still perfect for practising French reading and pronunciations. Perfect for children and beginners.

I e-met Michael Akainyah (a.k.a Kwame Sucré) on the France Alumni Ghana Association (FAGA) WhatsApp page. I was excited to know he does free pick-up services for Ghanaian students arriving in France. That’s one of the things I wish existed back in 2007 during my year abroad in France.

So yes, I engaged him on that. I got to know he’s a musician too! I dropped some rap bars, he blew me fans, so we connected 🤣.

This Saturday, we’re dropping a banger! 💃🏼🤣

This conversation got me captivated from start to finish: it accelerated so fast! You definitely don’t want to miss this.

“Mummy, my ears are buzzing!”

It’s my 6 year old daughter. She walks into our room in the middle of the night…my exhausted body is not deep in sleep, so I heard her right away, got up and walked up to her. She continued “There is something in my ear”

Me: Do you think an insect has entered your ear?

Daughter: Yes!

All my life, I have never seen an insect enter someone’s ear. I was once told it’s not possible, but as a Teacher, Sunday School Teacher and Mother, I do not dismiss anything a child tells me.

I looked at her, not too sure what to do. Tried to look into her ear, nothing! I thought of slapping her gently, I decided against that.

I thought of using an earbud, I thought, no, what if whatever is there goes deeper.

So I held her close, hugged her, prayed for her and said I think it’s a cold. You should be fine in the morning. (When they have cold, they have pains in the ears too, so I assumed that was it).

Just when she was calm and walking out, she said “I hear it again!”. Then she put her hand in her ear, and a tiny insect walked out! For real!

I was filled with all sorts of thoughts and emotions. So I hugged her again with gratitude in my heart to God and also glad that I did not dismiss her claims.

This incident also reminded me of when my son was 2 years. He suddenly had this smell around him. I asked his dad, my family, his Teacher, somehow I was the only person who smelt it. I noticed it came from the head area. So I kept inspecting him all over anytime I smelt it, until one day (3 weeks later), I saw something in his nose. I called his dad, he saw it too, we tried to touch it and realised it was hard, so he used pincers… and what did we see? A tiny piece of paper folded and placed in his nose! Oh the mixed emotions I felt that day!

All this to say, as a parent, if your child tells you anything, don’t dismiss it. Even if you don’t believe it, take time to monitor it. And if you feel something is off with your child, don’t dismiss it.

Parenting is hard! Motherhood is hard, but in the midst of all our busy schedules, accomplishments, struggles, responsibilities, let’s not forget that being a parent requires our full attention. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, but I remind myself that they didn’t ask to be born, we brought them here, so we have to make them our priority.

How would you have handled this buzzing in ear situation? Is there anything else I could have done to get it out?

By the way, if you haven’t checked my YouTube channel yet? Kindly do. We have exciting French videos for children and adults alike.

We know we’re being unserious, forgive us!

That’s one expression I heard from my adult learners a lot. However, in my mind, I was just filled with admiration for them. The fact that so many things are calling for their attention but they still try to achieve this goal of speaking French.

This lady in particular, I saw her in so many states of adulthood and still kept going: sometimes she would be cooking, sometimes attending to her child, sometimes driving home, sometimes tired but still trying not to give up on the goal of learning French. Listen to her testimonial.

It’s not that you’re unserious, the fact is that, being an adult isn’t easy! Yet, we have to achieve our goals.

And that’s why I do the speaking and teaching webinars.

If your life is too busy, but you still want to pursue your dream of speaking French at your own pace or even with a Tutor, I recommend “The Françomonde Speaking Experience”. We will share practical strategies to help you build your confidence and fluency in French.

If you want to make your French lessons more lively and effective for your learners, I recommend the “Françomonde Teaching Experience”. We will share practical ideas on how to help your learners speak and excel at whatever level they’re in.

If interested, kindly comment “Enfrenched”. I’ll send you the details.

7 months came too soon! I literally lived this experience with Priscy virtually! I’m just so happy to see all these young Ghanaians making impact in France whilst also enjoying these wonderful opportunities.

I did 3 videos on the TAPIF. You have no excuse not to access these opportunities. As I keep saying, I wish these opportunities existed when I was much younger. It’s too late for me now, but it’s not late for you. Make sure you don’t miss the next applications.

Check out my interview with Priscilla and all the other videos on how to become a Teaching Assistant in France.

I’m unhappy to announce that my application for a project wasn’t successful!

Yes, this is actually true! Am I really sad about it? No, not really. I am used to that.

And I felt, if we all announce our losses just as we announce our wins, you would see that even in the midst of the wins, we lose some things and have some failures. However, those are not things people want to announce.

So, dear friend, as you see people celebrate their wins, don’t be discouraged, don’t be jealous. Keep improving upon yourself. Keep trying. Keep making progress. At the right time, you will also celebrate your wins, but in the meantime, take the defeat as building blocks: learn lessons from them, sharpen your skills. Your time to shine will come!

Hello May! You’re welcome! Welcome everyone to a new month. I pray that it will bring you great testimonies and memories!

By the way, if you’re looking for a bilngual event host/ MC or public speaker, do hit me up. And, if you want to effortlessly fall in love with French, all it takes is a quick walk through my YouTube channel. I’m not exaggerating: just watch one video and come back with feedback!

Did you know that the French Embassy in Ghana and all its agencies have their pages in English?

Your fear of French is costing you too many good opportunities. And that’s why I’m hear to guide you access these opportunities.

I did an entire interview with Esclare on the importance of French for a Ghanaian, her work at the French Embassy and the agencies under the French Embassy.

During the “Semaine de la Francophonie”, I invited her again to talk to my audience on radio.

I want to make sure that no Ghanaian misses these opportunities that were never accessible to me when I started learning French. And for some, you don’t even need to speak French to access them!

We both agreed that Campus France is our favourite! Campus France Ghana

Please, watch our interview on YouTube and grab all these wonderful opportunities that are waiting to be accessed by you.
