Since July 2024, we have been working with our 111 beneficiaries to establish chili pepper demonstration farms adhering to the best available GAPs. The demos are located in the Central Tongu and South Tongu Districts of the Volta Region. The demonstration farms are part of a project supported by USAID Feed the Future Ghana Trade & Investment (GTI) Activity and implemented by NUNER BD, themed “Enhancing the productivity of smallholder vegetable producers in the Volta Region”

From the 1st to the 23rd of May 2024 in Sogakope and Adidome, we had an impactful and exciting experience providing training to One Hundred and Eleven (111) Chili pepper producers from six (6) communities in the Central and South Tongu Districts of the Volta Region. This training program was organized as part of a project supported by USAID Feed the Future Ghana Trade & Investment (GTI) Activity and implemented by NUNER BD, themed "Enhancing the productivity of smallholder vegetable producers in the Volta Region." In six (6) days, the project beneficiaries were trained on the following six (6) topics;

I. Seed selection for the desired yield
II. Good Agricultural Practices in Chili pepper farming
III. Post-harvest management with main emphasis on handling, storage, processing, and packaging
IV. Accessing chili pepper local and international markets
V. Post-Harvest Management: Photos & Video Demo: Technologies used in Chili Pepper Processing
VI. Co-operative formation and management

In the next phase of the project, we will establish demonstration farms in two districts to demonstrate the training we provided in May. We will share details of the demo farms and progress reports in the coming weeks and months. On Friday 26th April 2024, we had the pleasure of organizing a Training of Trainers (TOT) session in our office in Sogakope to kick-start the training component of our chili value chain activity.

The chili pepper value chain activity is funded by USAID Feed the Future Ghana Trade & Investment (GTI) Activity to enhance the productivity of farmers in the Volta Region by increasing their yield, reducing post-harvest losses, adding value and creating local and international market linkages.
