Fonio (Neglected Underutilized Species) being extended for cultivation in the Uper East Districts at Nangodi and Tongo. Nfonikpa, a fonio landrace which matures within 90 days. It yields up to 1.2tons per hectare and has enough biomas for livestock feeding and for soil fertility enhancement if left on the soil or pliugged without burning.
