6 Days, 1 Vision: Shaping the Future of iDE Ghana with Global Leadership

For the first time since establishing iDE Ghana in 2010, we hosted our Global CEO, Reed Peterson, for six days of deep engagement, strategic alignment, and community connection.

From traditional welcomes in Tamale to high-level diplomatic meetings in Accra, here is how we aligned local field reality with global vision:

📍 Connecting with Team iDE Ghana: Our entire staff gathered for an in-person town hall with Reed, followed by strategic sessions with our Senior Management Team to streamline local operations for maximum impact.

📍 Connecting with Local Entrepreneurs & Communities
Yimahigu: Visited a resilient women’s group scaling shea butter processing, running a thriving VSLA, and championing community nutrition education.

Bago: Met with households driving year-round livestock rearing and vegetable gardening to combat seasonal food insecurity.

Seed Producers: Heard inspiring stories from women producing certified seeds to contribute directly to Ghana’s national seed bank.

Yendi District: Connected with Ramatu, an entrepreneur producing nutrient-dense cereal mix flour who is gearing up to train a network of women producers.

Tamale: Toured local sanitation enterprises bridging critical supply chain gaps to bring safe products to their communities.

📍 Strengthening Strategic Partnerships in Accra Engaged with key partners—including LDS Charities, the Royal Netherlands Embassy, and the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development—to align goals and scale our reach.

Streamlining Sanitation: Sama Sama and Stakeholders Unite to Revolutionize F***l Sludge Management in Tamale!

We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the Aggregation Model for Pit Emptying Services Project Steering Committee Meeting!

Currently, access to desludging services across Tamale and its surrounding municipalities remains fragmented. To address this challenge head-on, Sama Sama is piloting a game-changing aggregation model. By serving as a central coordinating entity, this initiative will streamline demand, standardize pricing, and guarantee safe, fully compliant pit-emptying services for the entire community.

A heartfelt thank you to our key partners and committee representatives whose invaluable insights, strategic direction, and collaborative spirit are driving this effort forward:

Tamale Metropolitan Environmental Health Office
Sagnarigu Municipal Environmental Health Office
Waste Management Directorate of Tamale
Private Vacuum Truck Operators (VTOs) Representatives
Tamale Waste Water Treatment Management

Together, we mapped out essential pathways to establish transparent pricing structures, boost regulatory compliance, elevate occupational safety standards through proper PPE usage, and set up robust joint monitoring frameworks.

This collaborative effort marks a major milestone toward building a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable F***l Sludge Management (FSM) ecosystem in Tamale. The journey has just begun—stay tuned for exciting updates as we put these plans into action! 🌍💧✨

No girl should ever have to miss school or compromise her future because of her period. That’s why the Transforming Lives Through Nutrition (TLTN) project, with the amazing support of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, headed to Konkoa in the Bolga East District for a Menstrual Health & Hygiene Campaign!
Together, we reached over 800 women and adolescent schoolgirls to:
✅ Provide vital education on safe menstrual health & eco-friendly disposal.
✅ Debunk harmful myths and taboos surrounding menstruation.
✅ Distribute sanitary pads to ensure safe, dignified hygiene.
✅ Create safe spaces for open, honest conversations.
When girls have the tools and knowledge they need, they stay in school longer, stay healthier, and build brighter futures. 📚✨
A massive thank you to the local leaders, schools, health workers, and partners who made this day possible. Let's keep working toward a world where every girl can thrive with dignity! 💪🌍

💡 Nutrition + Entrepreneurship = Sustainable Change
Empowering communities goes far beyond passing out information. True impact happens when we combine health outcomes with sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The TLTN project under iDE had the privilege of leading an initiative that does exactly that—blending entrepreneurship, nutrition, and economic empowerment for local women. These women were introduced to the production of wheat-soya bread, a nutrient-dense, high-protein alternative to conventional bread designed to improve household food security. It did not end at the recipe; To ensure this turns into a lasting source of income, the team provided:
Hands-on technical training in bread production.
Business starter packs to eliminate initial barriers to entry.
Confidence-building mentorship to unlock their inner entrepreneurs.
Beyond the kitchen, these women were challenged to dream big. Together, personal and business vision boards were built, mapping out their goals and roadmaps for the next 5 years.
Watching them embrace new skills, take ownership of their economic growth, and envision a brighter future was incredibly inspiring.The Takeaway: When you pair nutrition education with economic empowerment, you don't just feed a community—you build its resilience, reduce poverty, and spark long-term development.
The journey to sustainable development always starts with giving people the tools and opportunities to transform their own lives.
