Final-year students at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa and Essikado campuses, recently participated in the sixth edition of the Exit in Readiness Mentorship Programme. The programme was organised by AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine in partnership with UMaT and the Ladies in Mining and Allied Professions (LiMAP-Gh).
Held under the theme, “Becoming Employable in the Age of AI and Innovation,” the programme encouraged students to prepare intentionally for the world of work by building relevant skills, embracing technology and developing adaptability for an evolving job market.
Our Managing Director, Daniel Boadi, delivered a keynote address as Special Guest of Honour at the Tarkwa Campus, challenging graduating students to look beyond their immediate environment and prepare themselves for opportunities in the global job market. He emphasised that a degree provides a strong foundation, their ability to continually develop world-class competence, harness technology and distinguish themselves through integrity, sound judgement, adaptability and courageous leadership will be critical to unlocking future opportunities.
At the Tarkwa campus, Daniel Wilhelm Wilson, Manager – Labour and Industrial Relations, participated in the panel discussion. At Essikado Campus, Kwame Prempeh, Superintendent – Economic Development and Livelihood Restoration, delivered the Managing Director’s address, while Franklin Kludze Superintendent – HR Support, represented the Mine on the panel. Across both campuses, discussions provided practical insight into career development, industry expectations and emerging opportunities in the evolving world of work.
The initiative reflects our continued commitment to developing future talent, strengthening partnerships with academia and equipping young people with the knowledge, skills and mindset needed to build meaningful careers and contribute positively to society.
