AGRIC TVET & ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Cashew Value Chain training is officially underway as part of the Agric TVET & Enterprise Development Program.

Day one was all about setting the foundation. Participants got a full picture of what the program covers, what they'll be able to do by the end of the program, and what the journey ahead looks like. But it wasn't a one-way conversation; the trainers also took time to hear from the participants themselves. What do they want to get out of this? What challenges are they coming in with? What does success look like for them personally?

AGRIC TVET & ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

There's a big difference between someone who keeps birds at home and someone running a poultry farm as a business. Knowing how to feed your chickens is one thing; knowing your numbers, pricing your eggs right, and keeping customers coming back is a completely different skill set.

That's what the session was about. Participants were walked through the real business side of poultry farming, what it takes to run profitably, and how to think beyond the birds.

They also learned how to get a business formally registered, which opens doors to funding and contracts that informal operations can't touch. Then came the cooperative side, how to come together as a group, structure it properly, and build something none of them could pull off alone.

The goal was simple: leave not just as someone who raises poultry, but as someone building a real business around it.

AGRIC TVET & ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Our participants completed a full cycle of poultry farming, starting from welcoming day-old chicks, caring for them daily, learning about feeding and health checks, setting up proper housing, managing incubation, collecting and packaging eggs, and finally selling their products.

It’s been an incredible journey, and everyone leaves with hands-on experience in every stage of the poultry business. We’re proud of what they’ve accomplished and look forward to seeing them put these skills into action in their communities.
