ANDA DON BENA ASSOCIATION HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL IFTAR, LAUNCHES ISATOU WELFARE FUNDS IN BANJUL
Banjul, The Gambia – March 3, 2026
The Anda Don Bena Association, in collaboration with Isatou Welfare Funds, has successfully organized its second annual Iftar program at the School of Nursing in Banjul. The event brought together students, community members, and invited guests to observe the holy month of Ramadan through unity, sharing, and compassion.
This year’s Iftar not only marked the second consecutive year of Iftar distribution by the association but also served as a significant milestone with the official launch of Isatou Welfare Funds, a foundation committed to advancing health, education, and community support initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Sainey Samba, Assistant Secretary of Anda Don Bena Association, highlighted the purpose and vision behind the initiative:
“As an association, this program forms a core part of our Terms of Reference. We are deeply committed to giving back to our community, especially during this sacred month of Ramadan a time that teaches us sacrifice, compassion, and generosity.
This Iftar is not just about providing meals; it is about strengthening unity, supporting one another, and reminding ourselves of the importance of community service. Seeing people come together here today gives us the motivation to continue and even expand this initiative in the future.
Anda Don Bena Association will remain dedicated to uplifting communities through meaningful programs, whether in education, social welfare, or awareness campaigns.”
Also delivering remarks, Isatou Dumbuya, Vice President of Isatou Welfare Funds, expressed gratitude to the association and shared the vision behind the foundation:
“We are sincerely grateful to Anda Don Bena Association for giving us this opportunity to officially launch Isatou Welfare Funds on such an important occasion. This partnership means a lot to us.
The establishment of this foundation represents a vision that has been in existence for over 20 years. Today marks a turning point where that vision becomes a structured platform to serve humanity.
Our mission is to support the less privileged, promote access to quality education, and contribute to the health and well-being of our communities. We believe that together, through collaboration and commitment, we can make a lasting impact.
This is just the beginning, and we look forward to building strong partnerships that will help us transform lives across The Gambia and beyond.
The event featured Quranic recitation, prayers (du’a), and the distribution of Iftar meals, creating an atmosphere of reflection and togetherness.
The successful hosting of the second annual Iftar and the launch of Isatou Welfare Funds reflect a growing culture of community-driven initiatives aimed at social impact and sustainable development in The Gambia.
