Last March, we began a strategic assignment for the NHRC for the development of a Resource Mobilization Strategy and Plan of Action 2026–2030. Today, we are excited to facilitate a technical review meeting to review the strategy and plan of action.

This is a significant milestone for the NHRC, an institution that holds GANHRI A-Status accreditation and stands as a cornerstone of human rights governance in The Gambia. The Strategy represents a five-year roadmap built on rigorous financial analysis and desk review, series of stakeholder consultation.

At its core, the Strategy addresses a structural financing challenge through five Strategic Objectives, guided by the RAISE framework (Resilience, Accountability, Independence, Sustainability, and Equity) with a clear implementation plan and a budget envelope to operationalize the strategy.

We are honoured to support the NHRC in strengthening its resource mobilisation capacity as it commits to delivering human rights oversight for the people of The Gambia.

SMD Policy Management Group is honored to share that we convened an inception meeting yesterday to review the Civil Service Reform Programme with the Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery.

We were privileged to be joined by His Honourable Minister, Baboucarr Bouy whose presence underscores the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening governance and public service delivery in The Gambia.

As implementation of the Civil Service Reform programme continues, this review provides an opportunity to assess progress, identify gaps, and generate forward-looking, evidence-based recommendations to guide the next phase of implementation.

We are excited to move forward with this critical assignment and remain committed to delivering a rigorous, high-quality review that contributes meaningfully to The Gambia’s ongoing civil service transformation journey.

📢 We recently facilitated three sectoral workshops disseminating the findings from the collaborative efforts of GBoS, UNDP, and DDP 🤝.

These workshops focused on presenting the critical data and insights gathered on the Localized Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), highlighting key areas of concern and the multidimensional nature of poverty in Kuntaur.

The workshops were attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including community members, civil society organizations (CSOs), academia, development partners, and policymakers.

These sessions provided an opportunity for open dialogue and engagement, ensuring that all voices were heard and considered in the planning and policy-making process.

🌿 Capacity Assessment and Development Plan for MECCNAR & CPCU 🌿

We are thrilled to share that we have successfully conducted the inception meeting for the Capacity Assessment and Development Plan for the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources (MECCNAR) and the Central Project Coordination Unit (CPCU).

✨ This initial meeting brought together consultants, key stakeholders from MECCNAR, CPCU, and other relevant partners to align on the project objectives, scope, approach, and timeline. This collaborative session was essential for clarifying expectations, incorporating valuable inputs, and building buy-in and ownership for the project.

🌍 The Capacity Assessment and Development Plan aims to enhance the institutional capacities of MECCNAR and CPCU, ensuring they are well-equipped to effectively manage and implement climate change initiatives and projects. 🚀 Exciting News! 🚀

We are thrilled to kick off our assignment on Value Chain Assessments (VCA) and market studies of specific crops (Millet, Sorghum, Fonio, and Groundnut) in the Upper River and Central River Regions of The Gambia with the World Food Programme (WFP) 🌍. Our recent inception meeting brought together brilliant minds from WFP, the Ministry of Environment-MECCNAR, and other key partners 🫱🏾‍🫲🏿.

We are excited to work with WFP again, building on our previous collaboration on the development of gender-integrated inventory guides, capacity development manuals, and the baseline study for the Rural Integrated Climate Adaptation and Resilience Building Project 📚🌿.
