Across the EU Member States there were wide variations in 2022 when looking at the NEET rates for young people. The lowest rates were already below the EU-level target for 2030 of 9.0 % and could be found in the Netherlands, Sweden, Malta, Luxembourg, Denmark, Portugal, Slovenia, Germany, Ireland, Iceland and Norway.

Furthermore, there were nine Member States that recorded NEET rates above the EU average of 11.7 % in 2022. Among these, the highest rates were recorded in Italy and Romania, where 19 % or more of all young people were in a NEET situation.

Cultural diversity and ensuring that authors are credited and fairly paid has always been our priority; this is why we ask for rules that ensure algorithms and recommendation tools used by music streaming services are transparent as well as in their use of AI tools, placing European authors at the centre.” "

On Wednesday, the European Parliament called for EU rules to ensure the music streaming sector is fair and sustainable, and to promote cultural diversity.
