in Regenerative Transition!
Thessaloniki is at a defining moment—where climate risk, engineering responsibility, and long‑term urban value converge.
On the occasion of World Engineering Day on March 4th, 2026, DCarbon | Sustainability Consulting, represented by Charalampos Giannikopoulos, Managing Director, participated in the event hosted by Technical Chamber of Greece TEE / TKM, contributing to the dialogue on how Thessaloniki—and Mediterranean cities more broadly—can transition toward a resilient, low‑carbon, and regenerative future.
The discussion focused on a central challenge: is no longer about ambition, but about delivery. Delivering buildings that reduce , remain operational under climate stress, protect quality of life, and create long‑term value.
In Thessaloniki, is already a design constraint, not a future scenario. Heat, energy demand, resilience, and carbon must be addressed early, with data, clear mandates, and measurable performance. Frameworks such as play a critical role—not as labels, but as a common language that aligns engineers, developers, and institutions around outcomes.
transition means moving beyond “doing less harm” to actively improving how buildings perform for people, ecosystems, and the city as a whole—from decarbonization and resilience to health and equity.
The road to 2030 is clear: measure honestly, reduce decisively, and design for a future that will test today’s assumptions.
