📚🧑‍🎓 Master Dissertations
One of the ESAG’s key missions is to support the training of young archaeologists and foster academic research. In this spirit, Aeryn Pauwels (University of Geneva) has recently begun her Master’s thesis on the beads discovered in the Artemision at Amarynthos, while Inès Nicolussi-Rossi (University of Lausanne) is preparing a specialization essay on the Mycenaean figurines from the same sanctuary.
These projects contribute to a deeper understanding of the material culture and long history of the Artemision, while providing valuable research opportunities for the next generation of scholars.

🏛️ Amarynthos Temple
A new milestone has been reached in the publication project of the Temple of Artemis at Amarynthos, conducted in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Euboea. Over the past few days, photographic documentation of the artefacts destined for publication has begun with Argyris Sakkas, paving the way for the forthcoming presentation of these remarkable finds from one of Euboea’s most important sanctuaries.

🪦 Epigraphy Workshop
In late May and early June, Delphine Ackermann (University of Poitiers) led a two-week doctoral-school in Greek epigraphy at Eretria. Eight students from Swiss, French, and Italian universities took part in the program. They also had the opportunity to try their hand at the experimental carving of stelae under the guidance of Thierry Grégor (University of Poitiers), a professional stone mason. In addition, they visited the archaeological sites of Eretria and Amarynthos.

A journey through ancient Attica.

Following the inauguration of the Swiss House of Culture, Research and Diplomacy, we had the opportunity to explore the rich archaeological landscape of Attica — from the ancient silver mines of Laurion to the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion, and the Parthenon itself.

We were honoured to be joined by Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis and Swiss Ambassador to Greece Stefan Esterman for this memorable day in the footsteps of the ancient Greeks.

A new "Swiss House" in Athens.

We would like to thank Le Temps and Frédéric Koller for this article on the inauguration of our new premises in Athens.

The "Swiss House of Culture, Research and Diplomacy" reflects a renewed vision of Switzerland's presence abroad: building bridges between culture, science and society, as Nicolas Bideau of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs ( ) describes it.

This project would not have been possible without FLUX Laboratory, whose initiative brought it to life, nor without the Embassy of Switzerland in Greece / Πρεσβεία της Ελβετίας στην Ελλάδα, whose involvement united three partners in a common project. We thank both institutions.

We look forward to continuing our work from this new space. 🏛️
