The Middle East Alternative Sound and Arts Festival (MEASAF), aims to become the most important cultural bridge, connecting Greece with the Middle East. Following last year’s highly successful event, and in the midst of a difficult timing in politico-economic level for the whole world, Measaf reacts to pessimism and negativity, proposing and presenting the work and creativity of young, new artists
of the Middle East, with passion, enthusiasm and love for art. The General unrest of recent months, coupled with the historically close relations of Greece with the countries of the Middle East, convert this year’s Measaf into a modern-day Festival with opinion, positive energy and dynamism, which observes and records the acute political, social and cultural developments
This year's participating artists come from Cyprus, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia and Iraq. Music, art, screenings, theatre, are harmonically combined, forming a cultural mosaic that connects the past with the future. Being under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture and with the support of several representatives of the public and private sector, Measaf supports and promotes peace in the Mediterranean nations, cooperation, solidarity, equality, respect for all nations. The events presented within Measaf initiate the exchange of opinions, ideas, knowledge and perceptions among all people. From October 13 to 16 2011, Measaf “connects” again Greece with the countries of the Middle East, giving the signal for the introduction of the festival on an annual basis, creating communication between the audience, the artists and the civilizations.
