Entrepreneurial Citizenship for Social Change We aim to foster entrepreneurial citizenship among youth in the Western Balkans. | Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme

EPIC aims to equip youth organizations with the tools and resources needed to assist young people in establishing and operating social enterprises. To achieve this, our primary activities include the development of the following:

✔️Training Programme on Social Entrepreneurship
✔️Toolkit for Youth Workers on Social Entrepreneurship
✔️Gamified e-learning platform

EPIC is collaborative project between Cyprus, Greece, Albania, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

From developing gamified eLearning tools to hosting National Hackathons, we are proud of the support structure we've built for young social entrepreneurs in AL, BA, and XK. 🚀

🌟 The Entrepreneurial Citizenship for Social Change (EPIC) project has officially concluded, leaving a lasting impact on the Western Balkans! 🌟

Over the past years, young changemakers in Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Kosovo have transformed ideas into sustainable social ventures, thanks to this EU-supported initiative.

Here’s what EPIC achieved:
✅ Developed the EPIC Training Curriculum on social entrepreneurship with 6 core modules.
✅ Created practical Toolkits for Youth Workers and Toolkits for Youth to guide aspiring social entrepreneurs.
✅ Hosted a dynamic workshop & study visit in Athens, equipping 15 youth workers with skills to mentor their communities.
✅ Conducted pilot workshops engaging 60 youth workers and 60 young people, testing and refining resources.
✅ Organized 3 regional hackathons, incubating 24 innovative projects—from AI-driven e-waste repair to circular economy solutions for food waste.
✅ Shifted perceptions of social entrepreneurship from philanthropy to viable, sustainable business models.
✅ Cultivated a culture of innovation, confidence, and technical competence in design thinking, budgeting, and pitching.

🎓 And the best part? All EPIC resources are now open-access, so young people, trainers, and youth organizations can continue driving social change.

The EPIC Final Conference in Bosnia and Herzegovina was a huge success!

We brought together participants to celebrate our journey in empowering youth through social entrepreneurship.

Highlights included:

🚀 𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬, 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞!

From 20 to 21 December, Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures, in cooperation with Homework Hub, organised the two-day SOCIAL DOO Hackathon dedicated to social entrepreneurship, bringing together more than 40 young participants, from high school students to university students.

💡 A total of 12 ideas were developed across diverse fields, ranging from physical and mental health, ecological initiatives and IT solutions, to innovative models of community support.

Was it easy to connect a social mission with a sustainable business model?
❌ No.

But with the support of mentors from SMOC and Homework Hub, young people once again proved that even small ideas can make a big difference 🌍

🏆 The winning idea came from the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, “Inner Peace”, a social enterprise that connects care for physical and mental health with a sustainable business model.

And this is not the end! 👉 In the coming year, we continue together with the final EPIC conference, where we will present the project results and the best ideas from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, and Kosovo.

Social entrepreneurship knows no borders, and this is just the beginning of our shared journey ✨

𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞

During the weekend, young people became part of a super energetic hackathon on social enterprise, where learning was combined with creativity and teamwork.👥

Together we went through 6 modules, through which they built their first ideas for social enterprises, worked in groups turning ideas into real concepts and then presented them to the jury.

🏆 In the end, two winning groups were announced with the most feasible ideas and with great potential for development. We believe that these ideas are just the beginning and very soon we can see them as real social enterprises.

At the beginning of December, People in Focus brought together young people for a National Hackathon on Social Entrepreneurship.

Over two dynamic days, participants worked in teams to identify community challenges, exchange diverse ideas, and co-create innovative social entrepreneurship solutions with real impact. Through collaboration, creativity, and hands-on work, young changemakers strengthened their skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and pitching. 💡✨

A special congratulations to the winning team, whose idea stood out for its innovation, feasibility, and social impact! 🏆👏

As part of the training, we explored a vibrant community space in the heart of Athens.

We talked about the social character of the Kypseli neighborhood, the value of local communities, and discovered the small businesses that bring the market to life. 🤝

A true example of how public spaces can support social entrepreneurship and create strong neighborhood connections. 🌿
