asterisk* joins the conversation on the future of European cinema and democracy at Les Arcs Industry Village!

asterisk*’s founder joined the panel “Promoting European Cinema and Democracy in the Future MEDIA Programme”, moderated by Julie-Jeanne Régnault (EPC).

The discussion focused on how upcoming EU-level initiatives — including AgoraEU — may reshape the future of the MEDIA programme, and what this means for European cinema as a space for artistic freedom, independence and democratic values.

Alongside a conversation with MEP , the panel brought together industry perspectives from (New Europe Film Sales) and Jakob Kijas (Eksystent Distrubution), reflecting on why MEDIA remains a success story for cultural diversity, and why it matters more than ever.

Always glad to be part of conversations that shape what’s next.

✨ Back in Warsaw, and back to ACE Financing Sessions!

The ACE 35 Producers and consultants gathered last week for the second instalment of the Annual Programme: the Financing Strategies Workshop, and asterisk* was there.

Always a pleasure to be part of a space that pushes European filmmaking forward through real dialogue, sharp insights and generous collaboration.

Onwards. ✨

New addition to our team: Colorist Christos Georgiadis joins asterisk*

Christos Georgiadis explored the world of image and color from an early age through graffiti art and his family’s film lab in Amaliada, a small town in the Peloponnese. These experiences shaped his sensitivity to visual language and led him to begin working as a Colorist in short and feature films, music videos, and commercials in 2023. His artistic vision is inspired primarily by analog photography and painting, as he seeks to bridge the textures of these mediums with the moving image. Welcome! ✨

Missed us? We were too busy to post lately. With four projects in full swing production, there is no wonder why!

But here come some production news: Ann Oren's fe**sh feature Objet a wrapped this summer and we could not be more excited for this film.

Aenne Schwarz, Louis Hofmann from Netflix series Dark, Simone Bucio and Georg Friedrich star in the German-language film, which is co-produced by Germany’s Schuldenberg Films , Luxembourg’s Tarantula and Greece’s asterisk*.

“Objet a is a tale about control and the hidden power in letting go of it,” said Oren. “It’s structured like a triangle of desire but with a twist. Objectophilia and fe**shism in Objet a are a commentary on our modern desensitised body. We touch flat screens more than our lovers’ skins, and so miss out on touching and being touched.”

Now that we’ve started updating again, don’t expect us to stop. More coming soon 👀
