Two hotels on the Athenian Riviera, two very different reasons to stay.

01/ The Margi, Vouliagmeni

What I particularly loved about The Margi was the atmosphere. Wonderful service, genuinely lovely staff and a breakfast worth looking forward to every morning.

Its location is another advantage. You can simply step outside, walk around Vouliagmeni and discover plenty of lovely places for lunch or dinner.

One recommendation when booking: request a room overlooking the garden or towards the mountain rather than the pool. Music from the pool bar can be quite loud, particularly if you’re travelling with a young child.

02/ Four Seasons Astir Palace, Athens

A completely different experience. This is where I would stay when the intention is to slow down, enjoy the sea and have very little reason to leave the hotel.

With its private beaches, beautiful waterfront setting and variety of dining options, Four Seasons is a destination in itself.

My conclusion? The Margi if you enjoy being part of the neighbourhood. Four Seasons if you want the hotel to be the experience.

Both have their place on the Athenian Riviera — it simply depends on the kind of stay you’re looking for.

What makes you remember a hotel long after you have left?

Sometimes, it is not the room, the view or even the beautiful surroundings.

It is the little things.

Someone remembering how you take your coffee.
A familiar face greeting you the next morning.
A room prepared in a way that feels personal.
A member of staff knowing when to help and when to give you space.

These moments may seem small, but they change how a stay feels.

The best hospitality does not make you feel like you are being looked after.

It makes you feel understood.

And perhaps that is why we remember certain hotels so fondly. Not because everything was perfect, but because for a few days, everything simply felt effortless.

Over time, I’ve learned that the most memorable luxury trips rarely come from simply booking the most expensive options.

They come from getting the details right.

Choosing a hotel because it genuinely suits you not because everyone knows its name.

Knowing which room is worth booking, and which ones I would avoid.

Understanding when a destination will actually feel the way you want it to.

Leaving enough space in the itinerary to enjoy the journey instead of constantly moving to the next reservation.

And, most importantly, making sure every choice connects from destination to hotel, room to experiences, and pace to purpose.

These are the details I look at when I curate a journey.

Because luxury, to me, is not about adding more.

It’s about knowing what deserves to be there.
