Being a son of a farmer’s family his life dream was to be involved in the primary sector. Back in 2000 he started cultivating his private vineyards, constructed a small distillery for the production of a local grappa (Tsipouro) and a tasting room in a traditional style and in perfect harmony with the environment and respect of the Nature, just 1.5 km. In 2008 the main winery installations and the
Cellar were completed. In 2009 the first bottling was a fact and after 5 successful harvests, Stavros decided that it was the right time to start exporting its wine to the rest of the world.
2014 was the year of the first export to USA, while this summer a launching in Canada has been scheduled almost together with Kokkinos Naoussa’s launch in Norway. Kokkinos Privately owned Vineyards:
• 1.2 hectares in Gastra area at an altitude of 200 m. planted in 1977.
• 1,2 hectares in Paliokalia area at 180 meters, planted in 1975
• 1.2 hectares in Dalamari area at 450 m, planted in 2000.
• 2 hectares in Dalamari area planted in 2013. The plant density is 290-350 vines per acre and the yield is 2 to 2.5 kg per vine. All vineyards are planted with Xinomavro grapes, the undisputed king of the Greek red varieties. Focusing on the fruity character of the grapes by producing limited yield of 700 kg per stemma ( 1/10 of a hectare) as well as by executing modern vinification techniques as a result we have a P. Naoussa wine with aromatic complexity and rich yet ripe tannins. All vineyards are located within the P.D.O region (terroir) which extends in 5,000 acres and located at an altitude ranging from 80 to 450 m.
