YOU and I ❤️

"No one said it would be easy
But no one said it'd be this hard
No one said it would be easy
No one thought we'd come this far
Oh, and look, we've come this far"

You and I.

We have been fighting so hard for so long.. yet appear to be right back where we started..

With [seemingly] nothing to show for it, with so much stolen from us over the years, we have still come so far.

We are not victims. We are SURVIVORS and today, we are still here. Alive and in love. ❤️

You and I.

We know what it's like to fight like there's no tomorrow. We know trauma, disappointment, fear, and loneliness.. we've known it waaaay before we even met, straight from our mothers' wombs.

But we are never lonely anymore, not really. I met you on a cold winter night and it's since been us against the world that moves so fast we can't seem to ever catch up. Out of our comfort zones and into the most secret silent.. most fierce war we ever had to fight.

No one knows when it will be over or how "damaged" we'll be by then. But we both know we will always be there to lick each other's wounds and find ways to survive the winters and cherish the springs, for we have been so lucky to have met each other.

No one promised us a rose garden, but I see our love blooming flowers through the desert every single day.

I love you, with or without a wild anniversary or formal party to celebrate what many take for granted.

I am proud of you. I am proud of myself. I am mostly proud of US.

If I could go back in time and find my younger self, I would tell her to not be afraid of hardship. I would tell her to expect it.. and to also expect the type of love, strength and resilience that will surprise her to her core.

You and I.
